SUNSINGERS Unite! Why a Buff and some improvements would be Nice! - BUNGIE

DISCLAIMER: I originally posted this in the Feedback area, but was quickly buried. I hope to have a better chance here. For over a year I've been playing as Sunsinger, primarily, and so I know its strengths and weaknesses. I know that Selfressing in normal Crucible is a joke but it's vital during T. Of Osiris and Raiding I also know that Sunburst, Brimstone and Solar Wind are all jokes for the most part. I, too, know that Discipline is our life force, Maxed out armor and recovery + HOTPF + Radiant Skin being the best super set up. However I've come here to talk about how we can fix some unfair things with the class, and how to make a bit more reliable. Let's begin: I went into Mayhem Rumble the other day with my Sunsinger, I got Radiance charged, activated and It just felt so good and right to always have a grenade available , Scorch Melee, while not charging as fast as the 'nades, was there when needed. It all felt like this was the Intended way to use and play the Super. Then I realized that in Mayhem while on Radiance your Strenght and Discipline stats didn't matter at all! TIER 5 DISCIPLINE AND STRENGTH COOLDOWN ONLY ON SUPER The Sunsinger is the only subclass that depends directly on DISCIPLINE & STRENGTH (mostly discipline) to make the super work properly, no other Super has this problem because they function independently of other Stats. So if for some reason you don't have Discipline focused armor... you have no super at all and your only benefit is increased armor. Therefor I propose to bump up Discipline and Strength to TIER 5 only on Super, If you happen to have equipped the HOTPF the cooldown will be faster, just like it is now. You should be able to throw 10-12 grenades and have 3 Scorch melees each time you're on Radiance, you shall no longer suffer inconsistencies due to poor stats. SONG OF FLAME AND ITS SUPPORT POTENTIAL Right now it is a waste of a talent and it's the only Support-oriented one that could actually work, so it needs fixing. Song of Flame now fastens your allies' abilities cooldown to TIER 4 and provides them with a Slight buff to armor, notice I said Slight. GRENADES TRAVEL FASTER WHILE ON SUPER This is one is simple, your Grenades will travel faster while on Radiance. SUNBURST So far it's useless, it has nothing over Viking Funeral or Radiant Will, plus It won't always generate orbs. So I'd do this (if you have Ideas for this one, share them) OPTION 1 - Sunburst can (randomly) spawn orbs on melee kills (Scorch) and enemies that come near you while on super are ignited OPTION 2 - Scorch randomly generates orbs, allies in proximity while on Super will have their health regen BRIMSTONE Interesting skill and It's fun to use, however it shouldn't be triggered (right now if the enemy doesn't have low health you just ignite them) on hit. Make it work like the Defender's force barrier; Melee is charged but won't be used until the last hit that kills the enemy, explosion ignites enemies (It currently doesn't). SOLAR WIND Besides being good for trolling and pushing teammates off cliffs I've thought of ways to make it combat-worthy After hitting an enemy with Solar wind, they're pushed back at greater speed and distance (possibility of extra damage if they hit something too strong eg, walls) and you are granted with a temporal boost to weapon readiness and handling FIREBORN Enemy players won't longer be notified when a Sunsinger Selfresses. Ever wondered why it's a joke to use Fireborn in Crucible? Because the whole game knows we just did! There's no element of surprise at all, which is much needed. Fireborn is supposed to be an unexpected tactic for the enemy let's make it so by NOT GIVING ANY WARNINGS! Thanks for reading, leave your comments. If you feel like some of the older subclasses need some improvements write a post too!

I play Sunsinger as well and I was telling all my friends we need a Damage increase buff. The Hunters have Tether.. The Titans have Weapons of light.. So why not take away the reduce Cooldown ability and make it "Increase all damage you and your allies deal". or something along those lines. I kinda also think Radiance needs an increase to damage when its activated. Right now it is the biggest joke in Crucible... Any other Subclass can shut it down with ease... oh look they came back to life... whoopie.. we aren't throwing hammers non-stop to kill an entire team.. so if bungie would stop sucking off Hunters and Titans for 3seconds maybe they could do a little reworking on our class and throw something to it.. These are just my thoughts.

    • I love these types of posts. It's much more interesting to speculate about buffs that a class might receive rather than demanding other subclasses get their best toys taken away. In general, I agree with the revisions to the melee talents, as none of them are worth anything except Flame Shield, and the Sunburst talent is now just a poor substitute for an Artifact. As far as the super goes, Fireborn and Radiant Skin are both good and probably don't need revision, but the super in general is indeed lacking compared to the Year 2 stuff. If it were up to me, I'd refocus Radiance, and Sunsingers in general, to be a more support-oriented subclass. So without further adieu, this would be my suggestion: >The Song of Flame talent has been removed from the Sunsinger talent tree.  The Song of Flame effect will now trigger whenever Radiance is active. >Replacing the Song of Flame talent is Resonant Harmony.  This talent grants bonus weapon damage to the Sunsinger and allies affected by the Song of Flame while Radiance is active. >The Brimstone talent has been removed from the talent tree. The effect granted by Brimstone is now included in the Solar Wind talent, allowing the Sunsinger to "throw" exploding enemies. >Replacing the Brimstone talent is Catalyze. Enemies receive the full burn damage from Scorch immediately. >The Sunburst talent has been removed from the talent tree. Replacing this talent is Paragon. Ability kills grant bonus armor and recovery to nearby allies. Any feedback is welcome and appreciated.

      • I'd like the melee to get something done to it...because yes the Flame armor is the only perk work having. Maybe a melee kill while in Radiance fully charges allies melee. I'd like the sun Singer to be more support orientated. Hell if you are air born near a Warlock who double jumps it blinks everyone lol....chaos!

      • Warlocks are a joke. Lowest skill class. Its incredibly easy to master. You simply need to stop playing poorly.

            • I say that we should give some use to the wings. When the super is activated instead of Glide you get Fly. You flap your wings to get high enough, and then move to fly at very high speeds. You can also start running and then jump to start Flying. The catch? You take damage when flying against walls or roofs. Song of Flame: Fly and spray your friends with a trail of fire that recharges their abilities, whilst burning your enemies with the hottests of flames (Instead of throwing a grenade you charge and leave a trail of fire that slowly descends, damages enemies and boosts your teammates). Radiant Skin: Stand on ground an surround yourself with your burning wings and burn away the threats to your existence, or fly and protect your friends behind ( You stand on the ground, your wings cover you, or you fly and cover your friends but leaves you vulnerable). Fireborn: Escape from Death's grip with an explosion so fiery, it trascends to the land of the living, throwing you high up in the sky, and come back as a falling angel (When you self-revive, there is an explosion, you fly high up in the sky, and glide very fast to the ground. You Fly very fast and revive fallen teammates even faster, wich gives you more super energy, and your teammates run faster. Also charges, but without the trail).

            • I've heard lots of posts like this to rework the sunsinger into a more supportive class as a hunter and warlock main I'm for it. Imagine an exotic that granted song of flame fire born+this= more support

So you want it to become op, err no. One or two of those maybe, but you go a little too far towards the end.
I would suggest that Sunsingers become a healer class. They already have the Fireborn perk in it, which basically resurrects them. Why not rework this particular skill to make it more beneficial to them instead of being a selfish super (for the most part). Also maybe rework the other perks in that branch that would relate to a Sunsinger's Armor, Recovery, and Agility stats? Here are my suggestions (instead of song of flame, radiant skin, or fireborn): Song of Valor - Upon activation, instantly cleanses all allies of lingering effects (such as burning, poisoned, suppressed) and grants nearby allies a Flame Shield equivalent to 50% of the Sunsinger's current Armor. Song of Life - Upon activation, instantly heals 100 points of damage to all allies. While active, nearby allies receive healing per second equivalent to 10% of the Sunsinger's current Recovery. Song of War - Upon activation, instantly grants increased rate of fire and reload speed to all allies for the Song's duration. While active, nearby allies receive a movement speed bonus equivalent to 25% of the Sunsinger's current Agility. ~ Feedback would be greatly appreciated :-)
• If sun singer is a support class it doesnt need high stats. Now it would be cool if all the sun singers used support builds instead of self res builds but we know its to much to ask. My class now has probably the best support supers out there. Great, i started this class because of the glass cannon idea just to become glass air soft. Now if i run anything but support in pve im just bad. If the sun singer could do more support instead of saving their super so that they can give orbs like everyone else it would be great. Add an effect where all primary weapons do bonus fire element damage or do critical damage. Unfortunately all of our year one subclasses are less than equal in every way. HoS>GG stormtrance>BD shadowshot>all other support supers. Hope they go back and bring them all up to par.

            • I agree the cool downs while in super should not be held back by strength and discipline stats, or at least provide a option for the super that allows for max cool down reduction.

            • I'm all for a Sunsinger buff, I've never liked the class but always used it since it's what fire teams always "required" I play. Honestly I haven't switched out of storm caller since I got it but I would try Singing again if they decide to make them worthwhile

            • Yes but it would need to be tier 5 AND the grenade rate increase, otherwise it would be EVEN slower charge

            • Regardless of what you say, people will always think Warlocks are useless. But, later on in Trials or a nightfall, they'll wish they had someone there to revive them once the enemy goes away or someone to stop the team from wiping.

            • I like these ideas. What they really need to do though is give sunsingers a speed boost while in radiance. Just overall boost their attributes while in radiance. Yes, i know HoTPF gives you a radiance speed boost

            • Sunsinger went from being the best possible class to the worst. How so? They took away Solar Wind's ability to push friendlies around. I used to have the best K/D in Cosmodrome patrol.

I myself had been thinking about that. Ways to buff certain perks to make the old subclasses more viable. Gunslinger: Have Keyhole or Deadeye provide the additional effect of bonus Precision damage with Golden Gun. Have Knife Juggler provide bonus damage to the next Throwing Knife for a limited time. Have enemies killed by Combustion chain it to other nearby enemies. Voidwalker: Increase the effectiveness of Angry Magic's tracking, and have Lance release a delayed Void Pulse after the initial impact. Give Vortex Mastery the additional effect of providing Scatter Grenades with tracking similar to the Nothing Manacles' perk, but to a lesser extent. Bladedancer: Have Encore provide an additional effect of bonus damage and an agility increase after Arc Blade kills (Agility increase is stackable up to 3 times). Have Razor's Edge fan out a bit more rather than just traveling in a straight line. Give Razor's Edge an additional effect that if used in the air , you instead throw your Blade, impaling an enemy, or the ground, and releasing Arc Lighting that strikes nearby enemies. Sunsinger: Have Song of Flame provide additional Recovery for you and your allies along with a slight increase in the overall cooldown speed, but to a lesser extent than Heart of the Praxic Fire's. Have Solar Wind provide an AoE effect that damages and pushes back surrounding enemies (about 2-4 times further than it currently can, which isn't much at all) rather than just the one enemy. Increase Brimstone's explosive damage a bit and its effect chain to nearby enemies that are killed by its explosion. Give bonus accuracy when using Angel of Light. Striker: Have Death from Above give a slight bonus damage and increased radius to Fist of Havoc the higher up in the air you are upon activating it. Have Shockwave unleash 3 waves that fan out rather than just one that goes in a straight line. Have Overload give bonus damage for a short time to the next Storm Fist when it successfully recharges it. Defender: Have Armor of Light grant increased Recovery when passing through it in addition to its usual effect. Have Gift of Light give bonus melee damage in addition to its usual effect. Have Bastion increase the strength of Ward of Dawn in addition to its duration increase.
