While I completely agree with this post and I am not implying OP's intention with this statement, I think regarding this topic everyone should be reminded that science does not look to battle with religion. This is not a war, so stop treating it like one. Isaac Newton (one of, if not the smartest humans to ever live) was devoutly religious. As was Galileo Galilei (he was not imprisoned for theories contradicting religion, he was imprisoned for making fun of the pope, learn your history) and George's Lemaître (Big Bang and Hubble's law). I could go on and on with a list of religious scientists. Stop treating it like it is science vs religion, that is petty and ignorant. Also, not to detract from the point OP is making, which remains completely valid, gravity is neither a law or a theory. It is a phenomenon. Einstein's theory of general relativity helps explain why it occurs and thanks to the concept of frame dragging, gives us more accurate calculations than Newton. Newton's law of universal gravitation explains what it does. We don't actually know what gravity is, just what it does, why it does it, and how to calculate it. If you don't believe me, show me evidence of a graviton. Hint: there is none. No physicist in the world knows what it is.

  • ^^^ Copious amounts of this.

  • It's more like religion vs science, and science is just doing its own thing trying to use logic and facts.

Actually it should be a fight to the death. We'll put the pope and Neil degrassé tyson in a cage. One man leaves. The winner is right.
I'm aware I come off as too aggressive and confrontational. One of my negative traits that I'm working on.
• No, we know everything about the graviton; we merely haven't observed it. But still, faith versus rational inquiry is religion pitted against science.

  • "Everything about" isn't quite so. What we "know" is that there needs to be said particle with said qualities for everything else to be true. That doesn't validate the particle as real.
