California just signed in the End of Life Option Act, based on the Death With Dignity Act in Oregon, becoming the fifth state to legalize assisted suicide for the terminally ill.
I do not know what I would do if I were dying in prolonged and excruciating pain,” he wrote in the message, addressed to state Assembly members. “I am certain, however, that it would be a comfort to be able to consider the options afforded by this bill.
So what are your thoughts on this? Do you support this and would you like to see assisted suicide legalized nationwide or are you against it? Assisted suicide has obviously different circumstances than normal suicide, so if you have strongly negative opinions about those who commit suicide, are your opinions any different about those who take advantage of assisted suicide? I myself have no issue with it, as it's an option I would be grateful to have if it came down to it.

When you are in a vegetative state and other people have to choose for you, that may cause problems, but none that sufficiently rigorous checks and balances couldn't handle. Same with people being 'pressured' into doing it. I think it's barbaric that some people who have lived here all their lives are forced to go abroad when they want to die.
