So which video game science fiction Miranda is the favorite for those who have played both games? You have Mass Effect's Miranda Lawson who is the beautiful, dangerous, but a complete jerk to you at first but can grow on ya later. But then you have Halo's Miranda Keyes who is might not be as attractive, but total a beast and respectable commanding officer. While I love both games and characters very much, my favorite is Keyes. Lawson, while being really cool, wasn't as cool as Keyes. When I first played halo 3 and later halo 2 (out of order I know), I thought "Keyes is pretty awesome" and I had a respect towards her like I did Jacob Keyes. She is also dr. Halsey's daughter, but she never liked her, I've never read all the books but New Blood, and I have The Fall of Reach but haven't read it yet so I don't know any details about that fallout (I wouldn't like a child kidnapper and turning said children into super soldiers as a mother either). Miranda also certainly went out in a blaze in her death scene, shotgunning those brutes and willing to sacrifice herself and Johnson to stop Truth from activating the ark, but her hesitation causes Truth to dishonorably shoot her in the back. She's just been one of my favorite characters from halo and it's also one of the first times I saw a woman being really awesome in a video game. While playing mass effect 2 I always thought Lawson was such a jerk and a bit of a racist, i almost never take her on any missions except for maybe 2 or 3 not counting the loyalty mission and starting missions, I replaced her and Jacob (another character with the same name as one in halo) with Kasumi and Zaeed. She did grow on me later, and her romance is interesting but I only saw it in YouTube videos (Tali is the best). Lawson probably has more character development than Keyes, she defiantly has an interesting backstory and I couldn't imagine Mass Effect 2 or 3 without her in a way (I like her better in 3). One thing that annoys me the most, she always talks about how her father try's to control her and her sister's lives in every way but she said if the illusive man didn't jump in, she would've put a control chip in your head. Yea she apologizes to you in 3, but I can't believe I haven't found any forums that talked about the fact that she is exactly like her father and didn't think about it. Plus, (this is coming from a straight man believe it or not) I felt Lawson was over-sexualized. I wished the camera would stop zooming in on her butt (no matter how nice it may be), And I always put her in armor after the alternate look dlc pack instead of having her wear that suit. I know what I said may sound weird to a lot of people, I wished they would kinda cut it out after a while. It was toned down a bit in her scenes in mass effect 3, which I liked.
