The freezing void bit at my insides as I focused on moving the plates of the Dawn. Each plate was individually made and placed in the dome like pattern so each piece can move in more or less freedom of the others. I focused on moving the plates on Laurentine's side as he fired off rounds to kill off incoming targets. Rex simply studied the patterns I chose and he timed each shot to move in between the plates to kill even more targets. Angelica threw a grenade occasionally and fired to pick off nearly dead Guardians to aid Laurentine. Sri grabbed a scout rifle and focused on airborne units and helping when need be, throwing out the occasional Nova Bomb at a large pack of enemies. Amelia continued to forge lightning clouds, her arm hammering faster with her internal rhythm. The storm clouds began to grow darker and larger as time moved on. Some Guardians along the tree line began to frantically shoot at us while others charged forward and tried to get closer. Rex calmly spoke in the comms. "This will be a piece of cake. Just keep your head and..." Another message rang out over our comms. "Due to unforseen circumstances, Guardians will no longer be able to charge supers faster. We hope this doesn't effect the test in anyway." The voice of Kyle Busch cut off as Angelica began to panic. "What?! We.. we can't do this without supers!.." "I said keep your head!" Rex shouted as he popped off more Guardians. Sri looked around and produced void spheres. "Josiah I'm going to cap you off once more, keep this thing up!" She placed her hands on my back again and injected more void into my system. I felt my body tense up as the numbing set in. I began to shake a little as I focused on conserving power and our lives. Charles appeared next to me. "Not to startle you but...." I produced a square Ward around him. "Not now, Charles." "Oh ho. Very funny! You know I can get out! He tried to expand his shell but the Ward simply got bigger. He looked around him. "Wait... Wait a minute... no... no!.. NOO!..." His screams were cut off as I made the Ward sound-proof and pushed him gently away. He floated around apparently screaming as I focused once again on the Void. A Hunter managed to pull off two shots with his Golden Gun before he was put down and took out a plate. I simply willed another one in its place and focused on keeping the shield up. I was the shield and I felt invincible for a time. After a time I began to notice my breath was fogging up my visor, so I willed my helmet away. Then I began to notice I was shaking, though I never noticed it. My fingers felt still and gnarled as I tried to keep the shield up. One by one, the plates began to crack and the void began to drain faster to support them. Sri looked at me. "What's going on Josiah?" "N... n.. othing!..." I said as my teeth chattered. "Im... wwww.. worki...ng... on it!.." Amelia barked at me. "Keep this shield up d***it!" Her blows were now faster and harder. My body broke out in tremors as i willed the plates to fix themselves but the just began to crack more. Guardians took notice of this and charged more often. Many were picked off before they were a threat but many more came. The Ward I created around Charles broke as he stopped floating near Laurentine. "OOOOOOO!..." He looked around him. "Oh, good." He looked at me and whizzed over. "Oh geez! I was gonna tell you that you were freezing to death but no you just had to shut me up." Everyone quieted down as his voiced purposefully traveled over the comms. "Ggg... eee... T... thanks..." I stammered. My vision began to blur and I could focus my thoughts at all. "He can't hold on much longer!" Charles expanded his shell. "He needs to warm up or he's getting hypothermia or a visit from Grimm!" "We need this shield up or we are screwed!" Amelia kept hammering away but her anger carried in her voice. "Well if he's dead then we can't have a shield now can we?!" Angelica ran over and sat by me. She looked into my eyes. "I... ccc... an... hang... on..." I mumbled. The shield began to fade and crack violently. A few plates broke leaving us exposed. "You have the energy, just your body is rejecting it!! Quit being the hero and don't die!" Charles hit me with several beams of light to try and stabilize my vitals. Angelica looked worried and she thought for a moment. She sat behind me and wrapped her arms around me. I heard her holding back whimpers as the Radiance activated. Her massive flaming wings wrapped around me and swept me with warmth and comfort. I gasped as my focus was jarred back to reality. I let the Void comsume me again to fix the plates then let if quiet down. I continued to shiver as Angelica warmed me up. We hid under her wings as her helmet dissapeared briefly and she leaned her face against my neck. "I won't let you die on me..." She whispered. "I can't protect you like you protect me... but I will be here to help as much as I can... I promise..." I smiled a little and nodded slightly. I let her Radiance warm me more until it ran out. She winced slightly as she got up. "I can't warm you up any more than that..." "Its more than enough." I said not taking my eyes off the battlefield but smiling. Her helmet was up again but I could tell she was smiling. Charles popped up beside me. "Yea he's better now. I mean just look at his cheeks, watch how they are so red and burning with passion!" I quickly raised my helmet back and grumbled. Charles laughed and spun around my head. "Your blushing, your blushing!" "HEY! Clam it!" Amelia yelled. Her body was sparking with raw energy. "Focus on killing s*** not your own fantasies!" Sri chimed in. "She's right! We have more incoming! Amelia get ready now!" "Ok ok!" She said as she quickly got up, flinched and helped Laurentine with the Guardian threat. I focused on keeping the shield under control. I looked at the tree line and noticed storm clouds forming over the enemy line and advancing towards Amelia's cloud. "Guys! We got Strikers forging! They may come at us for an all out assault!" Rex activated his Golden Gun and picked off two Titans.
