DeeJ and I were just conferring with the Design Team about how Three of Coins is performing in the wild. They are aware that the drop rates are too damn high, but for now this works in your favor. You earned those coins. Have fun spending them. The Nine may be delighted that you're blowing them all now.

I disagree with the drop rate because your so called "retooled RNG" gave me 5 light beyond nemesis. I just disagree where you can use them. Should be only heroic level or higher.

I tried it, used lots of coins(around 25-30) and got 5 engrams, 4 of which decrypted into duplicates. Felt like a serious let down and I won't be purchasing anymore 3oC.

Edited by Shadow: 9/19/2015 1:28:32 PMso three of coins is a ttk item, why not keep it that way, restrict it from non- tkk missions only can use in ttk storyline only can use in raids - crota, vog, and kings fall only can us in strikes - all strikes only can use in PoE - lvl 28, 32, 34 and skolas this balances it out for everyone and at least i dont see it being abused that much in this way

There's nothing wrong with the drop rate / percentage of the coins - rather the player should just be prevented from using them rapid-fire the way they are now. Maybe that's what you mean, maybe that's how you guys will fix it. Just be aware that there are many players not exploiting the mechanic, so a straight lowering of drop rates for the coins would impact them as well.

The drop rate on Legendary marks is terrible too.. people were bound to find a way to get decent gear..And then there was the Red Bull code fiasco (that is still not resolved). And reputation that was reduced despite promise that "your year 1 reputation will carry forward"- (also not fixed). This is one of the challenges of long lasting online games.. players have to work their butts off for a full year to make decent gear... then a "rebalance" happens and that gear becomes useless... it was natural for the player base to look for a fast path back to Superman status. But seriously, when the next DLC is getting ready to drop, please be VERY clear what the pre-order gets you. No fancy wording like "early access to Suros weapons" "they will be better than your year 1 gear." Very few people thought that meant "green engrams worse than your current gear that you will have to buy with your in-game currency." Now.. constructive criticism aside.. I do LOVE The Taken King. The music, game play, cutscenes, voice acting are all amazing.. your best work yet. I will be playing Destiny for a very.. very long time.

Ive used quite a few 3 of coins and havent gotten a single exotic engram from all the bosses ive killed.

be careful how you nerf it please. The actual drop rate is not great.. (about 1 drop every 6 coins). That is not exactly cheap on strange coins.. maybe just a cool down.. or only useable in strikes... or maybe only 1 stack useable per week? If you nerf the drop rate, it kind of breaks that consumable and not worth spending coins on. Just fix the issue causing it to be overfarmed. And yes, I used it a few times and got about 5 exotics but.. it was starting to get boring and I want there to be plenty to search for.. so.... yeah.

New strikes in heroic playlist take forever. I use this method so to get better drops overall, not just farm the exotics. End of day we can only equip one exotic so back off bungie

Better yet, just leave it. By the time this is "fixed" by lowering the drop rate the players who had the excess strange coins won't have any left to do it and they will already have their rewards. Then the casuals or those who didn't stock up to the ceiling on strange coins will not have any incentive to use the 3oC. I'm going to happily use it as intended. All of our year one stuff is useless and we even have to farm to by un-upgraded year 2 versions of the stuff we already had. Let the exploit happen. Let us get useful stuff back. It'll die out soon enough because strange coins aren't as easy to come by as they were.

True enough. You can say you're going to fix it, but people who would abuse it already did so all day yesterday and have every exotic.

Anyone trying the cheese is a fool! There's so many missions and quest that can be done and net a better chance of an exotic engram drop. Those blithes and high value targets we have to kill. Gives a far better chance of an exotic engram. It's SUPER boring sitting in one spot trying to farm. I really just don't get it.. What I like to do is, run a few missions equip the threes coin then head out to take out one of those Taken blithes or high value target. Not only are you completing a quest but you'd be having fun and collecting loot. I'm not sure why people want to TAKE everything in the first week.... I guess some people have sort of a problem. I'm honestly having fun while using this cool new engram boost. Example: I thought I'd give the boss loot a try, I ran it a few times and whoohooo but it dried up and was boring. So ran to Venus to do one if the missions when we have to fight Croats echo. On my way there I stopped off at the citadel and participated in an epic battle with one of those Gate Lord blithes or whatever. Just as I landed on Venus I equipped a threes coin consumable, after we killed the Blithe an exotic dropped. This has happened several times... Way more fun completing quest and collecting loot then CHEESE. So I ask please don't nerf this, it is an exiting new perk if not abused...

Like many have said, a cooldown time will be the best way to stop the farming and not hurt the ones who won't exploit the system.
