Life always takes precedent over culture, especially when it's idiotic. I've always hated the concept of honor, especially when it goes against pragmatism and being a decent -blam!-ing human being.

Also he was the chief of police and a father, it is both of his jobs to help people. He is a failure of a human being, I like to fancy myself somewhat tolerant of others but I have no patience for idiocy.
