Okay I am Christian and this is what I think. Yes teach Evolution in schools. But teachers MUST BE FORCED IN SOMEWAY to remain objective when teaching it. Let the children know that it is a not hard proven fact and that there are many other unvalidated theories. And if parents don't like this then their are many Christian private school options available. Also Homeschooling. That's what my parents did, they didn't like the public school curriculum so they homeschooled me until I was 15 then I went to college.

But why should non fact/science be taught in a science class? The point of science is to disprove and their is no evidence to the contrary to evolution via natural selection.
-
The problem with that is that evolution is a fact.
-
Edited by Dredd: 1/20/2013 1:01:17 AMWrong. Its a theory. No theory in science is regarded as fact because that completely contradicts the scientific process.
-
Gravity is a fact. We still don't understand how it works completely, but it is a fact that it happens. Same deal for evolution. They are both theories and facts. Stop before you embarrass yourself.
-
So..uh... Are you just having a bad day with the whole thinking thing, or do you just not think at all? It's really what the Fat Man said...
"a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on a body of facts that have been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment."
-
Edited by Dredd: 1/20/2013 1:17:53 AMI'm just a lot better at grasping basic science than you are. Obviously. When you learn to actually analyze a definition properly, then maybe ill take you seriously.
-
Edited by Vicex: 1/20/2013 1:24:12 AMNot really... analysing doesn't mean shitting on established definitions and injecting your own biased opinions... much like is done with the 2nd Amendment. It's not like we haven't observed evolution, because... well, we have. Is it a "Fact"? No. But it is VERY WELL supported.
-
A scientific theory is "a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on a body of facts that have been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment." If something has been repeatedly confirmed through observation and has alot of evidence behind it, it's a fact.
-
Edited by Dredd: 1/20/2013 1:13:13 AMThanks for reinforcing what I just said with that definition. You are either incredibly desperate to make your claim valid, or you fail miserably at interpreting a definition. Both of which make you look foolish. Many things have been confirmed through observation but are based on a false theory. Hence the model of the atom and Newtonian physics being applied to a cosmological scale. Learn what you're talking about.
-
"Based on a body of facts which have been repeatedly confirmed" What part aren't you getting about evolution being confirmed and witnessed?
-
Edited by Dredd: 1/20/2013 1:23:01 AMIt's like debating a third grader. The facts and observations are used to come up with an explanation of what's going on. Clearly you couldn't comprehend the example I have you, so Ill have to exclaim them. Just because the concept of orbiting electrons is mathematically consistent doesn't mean electrons orbit a nucleus consistently. You really need to understand basic concepts which have been taught in basic science.
-
Pretty large difference between evolution and the atom. Why? We have ACTUALLY seen evolution occur. We have physical evidence for it. Not mainly mathematical evidence like with the atom.
-
Still doesn't contradict the definition of theory.
-
Your use of the word theory =/= science's use of the word theory.
