Their contract with Activision - or at least the original contract - stated they could set aside 5% of their team to make s Marathon game.

5% was the initial amount they were allowed, but it eventually goes much higher, up to 25% once Destiny products reach certain sales milestones.

Oh my god ...really? That's awesome for two reasons. For the reason of the reboot, and for the fact that you read through their contract.
I like you
Haha. I didn't read through the whole contract, just skimmed it really. But there were a few news articles that reported on it before Destiny released. The only reason I'm uncertain if it's in the contract now (or amendment to it) is due to the original contract stating Destiny was going to be a Xbox 360 exclusive and, by the sounds of it, the sequels were going to be on all other consoles. It was worded kind of strangely, but could have meant the original and sequels would later release for all consoles after the initial run on the 360. But I digress. Marathon would be great to see rebooted. I only played Durandal on the 360 and keep meaning to search for the others, but I get caught up on other games. I hope those links work/help.

You sir are a hero. Links worked. Played them all, loved them and played through a bunch of player creations too. Good stuff.
