NEW YORK -- A federal judge deflated Deflategate on Thursday, erasing New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's four-game suspension for a controversy that the NFL claimed threatened football's integrity.
U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell went too far in affirming punishment of the Super Bowl-winning quarterback. Brady has insisted he played no role in a conspiracy to deflate footballs below the allowable limit at last season's AFC Championship Game.
The written decision frees Brady to prepare for the Sept. 10 season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I'm really not surprised the whole thing was a joke, the most ridiculous court case ever. I'm just glad it's over so we don't have to hear about it anymore

1 ReplyEdited by GrandmaBanjo69: 9/3/2015 4:28:51 PMRoger Goodell is slime. Let that be known. I am not, nor will I ever be, a patriots fan. And yet I feel that this entire thing has been grossly overstated by the NFL and that -blam!-ing awful wells report. Under inflation and over inflation carry specific penalties- a fine. Tampering with the balls for the comfort of the quarterback isn't exactly an uncommon thing. The NFL hasn't given a true shit about it until Brady. And it's not actually about Brady, it's about ratings. You could hear the butthurt from space last superbowl. 114.4 million viewers... And the NFL claims that this whole thing has been "such a blow" for them. Oh, and it's also about Goodell saving his worthless ass after all of his OTHER highly questionable decisions in the last few years.
Brady has insisted he played no role in a conspiracy to deflate footballs
Of course he insisted. Why would he admit he did it?

God dammit

3 RepliesNfl had to actual proof that Brady cheated and even if he did tamper with the balls, it should have been a $25k fine not a 4 game suspension
-
Well the NFL did have no hard proof so I saw it coming. Being a Patriots fan, though, I'm glad he isn't suspended although I was interested to see how the backup quarterback played

Edited by AStupidThing: 9/3/2015 4:06:03 PMThere was only one football that was deflated. They won the game by 35 points. It's not like hat one football made all the difference. And the real kicker; they didn't even use the slightly deflated football. http://blog.masslive.com/patriots/2015/06/independent_study_of_wells_rep.html

Can you imagine it? I'm the last Plantagenet!

2 RepliesObviously you linked the actual article, but the snippet you gave us is only a half truth. While judge Berman overturned the suspension, it wasn't because Brady is innocent, its because the NFL committed several procedural infractions. Brady's suspension is being overturned due to technicalities, not innocence. Had the NFL done their due diligence, provided the NFLPA with the complete Well's report evidence, had followed the CBA agreed upon punishment and allowed Brady's lawyers to cross examine all witnesses equally, Brady would, more than likely, be suspended for cheating.
