As it turns out, Bungie is actually unable to restore Guardians, weapons, gear and progress. I would highly suggest that you make sure you have your Xbox Live or PSN account locked down with security settings as I would be more concerned regarding that if you have any personal information attached to it. As for your Destiny progress, you will simply have to re-earn the items that you lost during this. As the contents on my vault were on my 1 remaining character? Anyway of it being looked into?

    I would suggest that you contact either Microsoft or PSN Support (depending on which platform you use) to see the account login history. You say that you know someone was online on your account at 3am, they would be able to get more information on the subject for you. Bungie has investigated many user reports of character deletion and there has never been a case of a "glitched" error, every single time it was a manual deletion - which means someone has access to your Xbox Live or PSN account.
