It's not about whether or not the guns suck or are better, it's about the ability to choose from many unique items. Look at games such as fallout they ship a game that let's you shape your character the way you want. They don't go back in with an update and say hey this gun you use all the time, well it not going to do any damage now.

In crucible they'll be exactly the same (except for the changes from the weapon patch coming up). And as you can see from the blueprints page, there will still be more exotics at year two status than year one had, so the variety is there. They never said that our journey would be done in the first game, so why would we be already geared for the end from the very start?
