Here is 1 point you idiots are forgetting...
If you want to compare prices at least do it right! The US price is listed without their version of vat so compare £32 to $40 and at least get it right before shedding tears.
It's €50.02. We have ALWAYS paid more for everything so deal with it.

Actually, the ex-VAT price is £33.33 not £32 which is $52.14 - but I agree we should be comparing like with like.

Vat is 20%

Edited by Cerberus64: 8/16/2015 3:32:32 PMYes, I know - but it's 20% added to the wholesale price - not 20% taken off the retail price. So £40 is actually 120% of the wholesale price. (40/120)*100 = 33.33

And they don't pay tax in America?! Eejit

Edited by Cerberus64: 8/16/2015 1:24:13 PMThe point Paladin is making is the in the US prices are always shown without the sales tax added as it varies from state to state. In the UK the prices must always shown with the sales tax (VAT @ 20%) by law (unless selling to tradesmen). Therefore to properly compare like with like we should remove the VAT from the UK price and then convert to the dollar value.

American manufacturers don't have to pay import/exports costs when selling in America, no.
