Weapon Re-Design and Modules vs Reforging

Yes, I want Modules!

No, weapons are fine as they are.

Now let me explain myself. I've seen some new stuff here and there and have been playing destiny for a while just like the majority of the users on the forums. The heads at Bungie said they hear their customers. So I want this to be heard. Custom Optics, Rail Sights, or what you do when you pull the left trigger is a huge part of the game. It's what you use to look at an enemy at range unless for some odd reason you have tracking or are a hip-shot-god. I believe that there should be a purchasable optics section at the weapon master which you could purchase custom optics instead of having the default ones on your weapon. This could also add other opportunities for weapons such as adding different loadouts. Options such as High Caliber Rounds and Explosive Rounds could now be transferred to Modules for weapons instead of having them be a complete RNG Roll on a weapon. Now the RNG roll wouldn't be taken out completely. That would make the game too easy. What this post is suggesting is adding another feature (Modules) and taking away another feature (Reforging) to make the weapon more custom towards the user instead of the game forcing you to play one specific way. Every gamer plays a weapon slightly different. This is a fact. I may not shoot Thorn the same way someone who plays crucible all day shoots a Thorn for example. That's what I'm getting at. Lets break down how to get a module upgrade: - Module Upgrade costs 13 Strange Coins from Xur - There are 3 types of Upgrades: Sights, Ammunition, Barrel Stock - Once upgraded, you can purchase the special upgrade from the Weapon Master to attach it to your weapon - Once attached, you can re-apply a different Upgrade to your weapon, but it will destroy the previous upgrade upon use The more detailed process: You go to Xur on the weekend after obtaining a weapon with a Module Upgrade section instead of a Reforge Section. After you purchase the Module Upgrade from Xur and use it on your weapon, you can go to the weapons master and purchase a Module for your weapon. This allows your weapon to have a new Sight, Barrel, or Ammunition depending on the choices you have from your 3 choice slots. Once you attach one Module from the Weapon Master, it is a Semi-Permanent Module. This module will remain on the weapon until you choose to replace it with another module. This will also increase a single 3 choice section (not all of the sections) to a 4 choice section with the 4th section having your specific bought module upgrade. Thoughts and comments greatly appreciated, even if they are negative. Community feedback is important.

  • I just think they need to scrap reforging weapons in favor of fully customizable weapons. They can offer base perks for glimmer, middle tier perks for motes, and top end perks for strange coins. I like the module idea, but the way I picture the idea working is that picking certain perks for your gun will change how it looks. For example, if you got the "Surplus" perk on a sniper rifle, it would add a bullet caddy on the stock of your sniper rifle. If you got the perk where you get increased melee damage upon a successful shot with the weapon (popular on shotguns), you get a bayonet on your gun, etc. It may be difficult to come up with visual modifications for all of the weapons (outlaw on a hand cannon vs a sniper rifle), but it would most certainly add variety to how guardians look, and it would give us weapons that are truly tuned for our style of gameplay. I made a suggestion for armor to work like this as well a few days ago, but I doubt it got much attention.
