Thats stupid. Some people have 3 or more of the same exotic and would want to trade it for something of fair value.

Well they could always have a system to trade materials for weapons/armour. But I think items have more value than materials, soo....

Exactly exotic shards for example. What if someone wanted to trade a Vex or something for 1 exotic shard?

Well, given the example of the vex, that's a gun rewarded by completing a very specific task, so I'd say a mythoclast would cost more than just 1 shard, but yeah, that idea isn't too bad.
