I would also like more depth of story elements but you are not correct about it being the point of games. Games can be many things and it is often okay for them to not tell a story.

  • I was talking about video games...not time wasters ....I was speaking of the art and culture that destiny should have been, but wasn't anything more then a off brand CoD....

  • I completely agree with you about destiny. It would be amazing to have a story about something thought provoking, epic, and that pulls on the strings of my moral compass. I just wanted to express that there are video games that do not have strong story elements that are still worthwhile as puzzles, skill challenges or just plain competitive. It might not be the most important characteristic to you but they are things that appeal to people (and arguably more so for most gamers considering sales numbers for CoD). Destiny has good FPS mechanics. It is fun to just move around and shoot. That's still important for a lot of us.
