I think vanilla destiny was when the game was at its best! I will always miss #forever29 and the first queens wrath (though I was level 5 at the time :P)
I feel like the crucible was better then too, though it wasn't balanced, fusions and autos were the best weapons, now they are laughed at.

People automatically quit crucible when they found a guy with the vex, because it was a monster. VoG was hard. There were Forever 29's. Hitting max level was much more respected than now. Fusion rifles melted people from sniper distance. Auto Rifles ruled crucible. You could wallbang and kill someone. Xur sold Gjallarhorn week 2, and everyone thought that an exotic heavy was a waste of the exotic slot. Atheon was a huge cheese-bowl. Warlocks with solar grenades were most revered, because they could cheese Atheon off the map. You could drench the Templar with cheese. People pissed their pants when they saw dregs with ??? for their level. Being scared of the hallowed Knights and ogres in the Cosmodrome. Beating Sepiks in the lv8 strike was hard. Shingen-c was a force to be reckoned with. You had to run around in patrol gathering materials to upgrade gear. You could sell those materials for some marks and reputation. There was a bounty for killing spider tanks. Pulse Rifles sucked in every way. There was Queen's Wrath Event. In the first Iron Banner, a lv 10 could easily kill a lv 29-30. Bungie changed this. Special ammo dropped from people you killed. Heavy ammo dropped from people you killed. You could have another teammate open the heavy box, and you could keep the ammo on the ground for later use. Thorn sucked, but in the right hands deadly. Bad Juju sucked, because it could only hold 5 bursts in a magazine, and it didn't give super energy on each kill. Invective's reload was terrible. You could kill team mates when your timebreaker exploded. And more.
