Vault of Glass - importance of Void weapons? Her Benevolence > P&T?

How important is it to bring Void weapons to VoG? For example, is "Her Benevolence" better than "Patience and Time" as a sniper? So I'm a newbie and have been putting off the raids until I felt comfortable enough with the game (I stopped playing for like 8 months and just came back). And I guess the countdown clock is ticking on that Moments of Triumph achievement. Anyway... I'm finally at a place where I'd like to raid and figure I'd prep for Vault of Glass: first on normal and eventually Hard. So I've been reading the guides and watching the videos so I have an idea on what to do on VoG + Crota. Some of the old guides are recommending bringing Void weapons to the VoG for the Vex shields . I imagine this is still the case? In which case, is it better to bring Her Benevolence Void Sniper vs Patience & Time Arc Sniper? Or does P&T have enough perks to make it better for VoG (like the stealth thing). Just wondering if I should accelerate my P&T leveling, or just get my HB up to snuff.

The only enemy in vault of glass that has a void shield are the Pretorians spelling?. The best weapon to deal with them are void shotguns. I've got a void party crasher with the full auto perk. There are segments in vault of glass where a sniper rifle will help ie killing oracles and hobgoblins. In those scenarios, any sniper will be fine. Icebreaker being the most ideal. Edit* also want to add that you can get Matador and or party crasher from regular crucible and then reroll it for void. Edit 2* look at the shotgun I've got on my hunter for an example.

    • Snipers come in handy later in the VOG, and it doesn't really matter what burn they are. For the first few parts, I would recommend shotguns. I use sword breaker and found verdict, which are raid weapons. I think any void shotgun or fusion rifle will do, until you get raid weapons.

    • Sga is good for oracles. Other than that void shottys are next on the list. Fast paced low recoil snipers or lmgs are good for atheon.

      • Void shotgun is a better call than sniper. (void damage is only really beneficial on the minotaurs). I'm not a fan of patience and time. I occasionally bust it out for arc burn/specialist runs but that is really the only time it see the light of day. If your VoG run is done the way most are - you will however want a reliable sniper to switch to. Ice breaker if you have it - something else with synths if you don't :) If those two snipers are your options I would probably go with her benevolence. A nice scout rifle will serve you pretty well for much of VoG as well.
