Yep, agreed, both awful and unacceptable. I spoke with a Bungie employee while at E3 about it this year, he said it should be resolved "by the end of the year" ! A very unacceptable timeline, but at this rate, sadly probably the correct one.

I'm just guessing here, but it seems that Bungie's approach is if you don't help out players with problems they will quit playing and then they won't have players with problems. Aside from that I have found several servers in the call flow that I have no idea what their purpose is and the only difference in call flow between an account that gets vultured a lot and one that never gets cultured (on the same box/network) is the time difference to some of the servers. My money is on the Activision Demonware servers since they are the only ones that advertise as handling authentication services.
