So, all you people leaving, let me ask you a question.
Why play a game like this? Literally you could shrink this down to questlines or a strike.
You had to replace armor/weapons and even abilities as you leveled up to max your character/subclass. So, why all the nonsensical, pouty faced comments when your faced with doing the same exact thing on a slightly larger scale?
All I keep seeing is people saying the last year would equate to a huge waste of time if their current weapons become obsolete.
1) Gaming is a waste of time
2) It allowed you to grow your relative power
3) You happily dropped that green weapon for a blue while leveling up. What's the difference?
I just don't get your thought process. Have none of you ever played a rpg in your life? Are you all pure consolers who were never exposed to this kind of progression?
None of you would have lasted past 1 expansion in a true MMO where this is the rule rather than the exception.

If we received weapons and armor fully upgraded like most RPGs this would not be a problem. However, since we had to grind out raids and Nightfalls to get the best gear from RNGesus, then spend hours driving back and forth getting materials to upgrade, then level the gear up this is a gut punch. People are attached to this gear because of what it takes to get it and the gear progression system.
-
I agree with the time sink but that has also been reduced by quite a bit. I don't get really invested in gear myself because I realize there's something else right around the corner that's probably better.
-
What about the HoW or Queens weapons was "better" for you in any way over previous legendaries?
-
I don't understand the question.
-
Weird. You just stated that how this works is new weapons come along that are better than the old, which naturally pushes one to use the new and ditch the old. I'm challenging that by directly asking which of the HoW weapons was so good that no one wants to use Fatebringer, VoC, Gjallahorn, Vex, etc. Since those are vanilla weapons. And your answer is...?
-
I stated that's how it *should* work.
-
Makes even less sense, then. You chastised people for "not being able to let go" but you seem to grasp that none of the new weapons come close. Most aren't hanging onto Fatebringer because they have OCD; it's because everything that came after still pales in comparison. You agree with that, so wtf is the point of your diatribe?
-
I've laid my points out pretty well with examples. If your not getting it, I'm not going to waste my breath saying it again. You don't have to agree and I'm certainly not trying to convert anyone to my opinions.
-
Strange, because I managed to completely and utterly annihilate your argument with but a single question. So devastating was my pinpoint query, you actually pretended not to understand the question at first. Then, you acknowledged the truth of my statement. All that's left is this: **drops Mic and moonwalks off the stage**
-
Keep telling yourself that. Do you take medication for those delusions you have? Fact is, your either too dense or your just saying nonsensical things to be difficult. I didn't understand your first question because it was barely English stated in a coherent sentence. But yeah, you got me.

Edited by MHB-2-Legit: 7/25/2015 11:11:44 PMYou're* You've been educated twice by me today. This means I've officially done more for you than 7 years of Junior High could. **drops Mic again, this time grabbing your piece of paper meant for an autograph and delicately folding it into a daffodil for you to squirt endless tears into, using the ancient Japanese art of origami**

Grammer -godwinslaw!- never truly succeed in life. Your trying to annoy me. You haven't. I'm amused because you haven't said a single thing this entire thread. Nothing. You think your smart I guess. While your busy jerking yourself off to your idiocy, I'll keep on being right. Good day.

Destroyed you, and you don't much like it. Get used to it. You also have a pleasant day.

You must be a last word abuser.

Edited by NegativeZer0 FX: 7/25/2015 11:37:49 AMUh... Just gonna throw this out there, that green weapon sucked. I certainly don't remember a green Hand Cannon having firefly AND outlaw AND explosive rounds. I agree that all our Year 1 weapons should hit the road, but that's a dumb argument for it.
-
Not when you put it in the same perspective. The damage will be higher. The relative power will be higher. There isn't much difference in the reason you went from green to blue. The power curve might be a bit smaller but it's still the same thing. It's up to bungie to make people actually want to pick up a different weapon however. That seems to be an issue.
-
No, no you're misunderstanding. Remember when TDB gave us raid primaries, and people STILL used old vault weapons? It's because WoC couldn't hold a candle to Fatebringer. The same will most likely happen. It's going to be near impossible to beat a hand Cannon like Fatebringer without redesigning the perks. Switching from green to blue was no big deal, because everyone in the entire community knew at that point in there Destiny careers that that green was not special.
-
No, I understand what your saying. I'm saying the mechanics are still the same. Bungie has just fallen short on giving us reasons to change weapons. Frankly they just completely screwed up the itemization. They made VoG weapons really good and set the bar difficulty way to high in terms of offering improvements. They dig themselves into the hole. It's up to them to figure out how to get out of it.
-
Yes, that I agree with. They'll need to completely redesign perks and look at handcannons from a new angle, or else nothing can or will ever trump Fatebringer.
-
In it's relative time frame, nothing probably will. Fatebringer will probably be around for a little bit after the next expansion. It's kinda obvious they made rookie mistakes with itemization. Etheric light only made the situation worse and allowed them to be completely lazy about design choices for HoW.
-
"It's up to bungie to make people actually want to pick up a different weapon however. That seems to be an issue." That is the real issue. In dark below people used underpowered raid guns because they were still better and unique.
-
Agreed. There really haven't been many compelling choices. I have been having fun with queens bow however. Maybe between that and Lord of wolves we can hope for a better direction.

Boom to this ^
