Not really...
Considering you can buy your way to a level high enough to do VoG, it's actually easier to get to min level to do certain activities.

So spend three weeks getting marks to get armor, then upgrade it to a high enough level for the VOG, then LFG the VOG with blue primary and secondary weapons and an un-upgraded legendary heavy for people to help me get ascendant energy. This is your suggestion?
-
If you're doing one bounty a day, yeah, it'll take you 3 weeks. Not to mention you don't even have to upgrade it, just equip it. If you can't make friends or refuse to try a clan, yeah, you'll be using lfg a lot. Yeah, I've done it before. Blue primary AR, blue void shotty (suros) and a legendary unmaxed void rocket. If you don't want to put an ounce of effort or attempt in something, just say so. It's much easier to get things done compared to pre-dlc era.

You can only get 100 vanguard marks per cycle and you need 345 to buy a set of armor... It has nothing to do with bounties at all; perhaps you were responding to a different post?
-
Nope. Since you need a certain rank to purchase certain armor, I mentioned bounties. You can buy one piece of legendary armor one week, work on ranking up, and be able to purchase another piece the next week. It just keeps going from there. Not like you need a full set of legendary armor to do normal VoG. I'll say it again, if you don't want to make an effort, you really shouldn't complain.
-
So your position is also that new players are supposed to complete the VOG to upgrade their first legendary weapon even though every legendary weapon available for purchase from any source in the game right now does not need ascendant energy, e.g., can be upgraded without having to run any raid? Do you really think that makes sense; seriously?

I could counter, why are you complaining about how "difficult" it is to get said materials if they aren't even needed? You complain about the lack of ways for solo newbies to get things done by the need of ascendant materials. Yet you then turn around and say they have no purpose. Those perks aren't going to reroll themselves and that gear certainly won't upgrade itself. Plenty of ways to find use for unneeded things.

I literally just leveled a character, had enough marks and rep in about 3 days
-
You cannot get enough rep and marks for a set of armor in one cycle even if you max-out both Vanguard and Crucible...I call BULLSHIT!

For a full set? No. For the boots? Yes.
