If Bungie and Activi$ion announce that year one legendaries and exotics will not have a upgrade path, will you continue to play destiny?
Edit 1: For those who would stay... Imagine having to completely replace your exotic armory. Every exotic would be useless except for PvP.
Edit 2: We are trending! :D
Edit 3: We Broke 1,000! This is my biggest post yet! Thank you all for your input!

As long as they have just as many or close to exotics to replace them I'm ok. Gives me something to grid for again. I'm sick of having everything. Nightfalls have no meaning , exotics chests have no meaning, exotic bounty I dismantle straight away, I'm never excited for xur or even go see him
-
I for one would be happy to get rid of my fate bringer, it can't be the only PVE gun I can use
-
Staying for sure. I bet exotics will still be upgradable because Xbox is going to get the exclusives. I really hope legendaries are not upgrade able. It would let people leave the past in the past and find new weapons. It would bring some real progression to the game instead of sticking with that same load out from launch.
-
I'm used to it, so I'll stay.
-
I hope they cant get upgraded. Give people a chance to try new weapons.
-
Stay. Like most MMOs, if old content becomes useless, it would be fairly normal. I kind of doubt exotics will fall off to the way side, but legendaries will probably fall off. Either way; the game is fun, the meta will change, and the world keeps spinning.
-
If legendaries didn't it would be nice for a week but there would be no reason to collect the new stuff. Just like how it is with HoW, basically every gun is outclassed by a gun from the vault or crotas end.
-
Exotic will be able to come with. Legendarys, most likely not
-
If exotics couldn't be upgraded I would be upset, but if it's only legendaries I would be fine. It was going to happen eventually.
-
Well year one weapons will still wreck in PvP. I don't mind collecting new weapons for PvE, cause I'll finally get excited about new loot once more
-
What would be the incentive for raiding?
-
1 ReplyHighly unlikely that exotics will get left behind. Legendaries; wouldn't surprise me if they become useless.
-
Why would you leave because of that?
-
Here's my take: there's two different problems. First, you have weapons. They aren't going to take away player's exotics so we won't even talk about them. This is about legendary weapons and wether or not they are fazed out in the expansion. If you were to ask me a few weeks ago, I would say that I expect them to. Now, after that patch announcement, I'm not so sure. Why would they put on such a show with the weapon adjustments (black hammer, final round, shotguns etc) when they could have saved a crap load of time and headaches with a simple email to the dev team? Second, you have armor. Yes, your armor will become obsolete, but can it be ascended? Ascension was hugely popular with players. I would expect to either see ascension, or something to take its place such as transmog.
-
I will be mad if we can't upgrade them for sure. This would mean that no matter how much time you invest in the game, it won't "really" matter since you will always rinse & repeat every year. It would also mean just play the game and then put it down and come back once new content releases, hoarding and collecting would be a waste of time (it already is)!

2 RepliesIt's only legendaries that won't upgrade
-
1 ReplyPreviously I had assumed year 1 legendaries wouldn't be upgradeable to year 2 damage. Then they announced black hammer nerf and that nerf drops at most a couple weeks before expansion. There would be zero reason to nerf black hammer if it was staying at 365.
-
I won't care so long as legendary armor is ascendable or if they add transmog or if they add vanity slots.

10 RepliesEdited by wizardeiges: 7/23/2015 6:45:42 PMI refuse to trash everything I grind for at the end of every year. This is NOT a mmo. I don't give a -blam!- if world of Warcraft does the same thing. Games like WoW have MASSIVE amounts of content but destiny has so little that a casual can breeze through it in less than 24 hours but takes almost a full year JUST TO GET THE GEAR THATLL BE LOCKED OFF AT THE END OF IT. I'm leaving the grind if they render the grind pointless at the end of every year.
-
Why would you think year 1 weapons become obsolete if they are bothering to nerf /buff individual weapons such as necrochasm and thorn.
-
Imaging trying to store all your new and old stuff.
-
It would be like buying the game again and starting over with a new experience
-
Half my exotics were useless 6 months ago. So I upgraded through xur. And for year two it will be exactly the same. Except this time I've got a stack of strange coins to spend
-
I'll deal with it, but I won't buy the sequel. I'll put up with the grind for now, but I'm not going to continue to subject myself to repetitive grinding unless I'm enjoying said grind.
-
1 ReplyI'm gonna stay with this game, I want to see year 2 have different unique weapons and see how they perform. I really want to use something other than fatebringer a lot of the time and I will actually be happy to see it off when ttk comes out. it'll be like Crota's End was, but with actual incentive to use those guns as they will be the best in the game.
-
I'm leaving either way. There are other games coming out that I have been looking forward to for a long time. The destiny grind is decent entertainment but I was a halo and Star Wars fan first.
