Wish this was recognized before I reached 1500 Blade of Crota kills, but better late than never.
It is a little concerning that the problem wasn't recognized sooner and that so many users, including moderators and mentors, stated that it still drops and that we needed to just keep trying. While they may not have deliberately lied, the fact that they provided essentially inaccurate information based on their own assumptions as opposed to actual game experience will adversely effect the credibility of moderators/mentors, and it rightfully should - if we hadn't continued to question the 'confirmations' from the mods/mentors, this bug would have remained undiscovered. I know I have lost a lot of trust in them and will no longer consider their comments to be any different than those of other users.
Users claiming recent drops of the Husk is another issue and I seriously hope that it is a case of the bug only affecting certain users or involving specific conditions that allowed it to continue to drop for some. The alternative - the Destiny community includes a lot of dishonest players who provided misinformation that (1) encouraged users to waste time on a fruitless endeavor and (2) interfered with the identification and recognition of the bug.
Now I'm done venting - let us see what Bungie is able to do about this problem.

The husk has dropped for NO one since HOW came out. FACT . No matter what other few may say. There either to dumb to realize they got it before HOW came out. Or they are lies .

Well spoken sir! It just shows how serious they really take their customers.

How do I up vote this to the heavens. Words out of my mouth sir!

PREACH! I have lost all faith in mentors and especially the bungie help accounts. These people should know their stuff and make NO assumptions.

I agree with your statement 100%, I to have been experiencing this issue and spend a few hours trying to get this gun to drop, I have everything needed to get the gun to the exotic state but no husk of the pit. I also spent time trying to get this issue noticed but was given the same response, it does drop, keep trying, this also has decreased my level of confidence in the moderators response and the level of proof they have regarding the information they give, I don't believe they were grinding to also get one, if so after only an hour of trying it is clear to see t does not drop. Since house of wolves dlc, I believe it has interfered with the crota dlc, especially when certain features were removed, e.g. blades of crota on patrols, what is the big deal of having them spawn even if it is at the same time as the wolf packs. Anyways hoping for a quick turn around on this.

Im sure its not easy to determine if something is dropping with an RNG system. Stop complaining.

Edited by Chris Loosely: 7/20/2015 5:40:58 PMIf it were easy to determine if there was a bug in any of the game's systems, then the game would not need patches to address technical glitches and everything would be addressed by QA prior to release. My point was that it would have been easier if other users didn't immediately dismiss the complaints and concerns of those who were effected by this bug (the complaint about the problem not being recognized sooner took up very little of my post, if you notice). EDIT: Also, what DAEMONIS LUPUS said.
Im sure its not easy to determine if something is dropping with an RNG system. Stop complaining.
Sure it is.. All algorithms running in the game are using markers to catch values when an event happens. A drop from RNG no matter how rare will trigger a Peg increment. Reports can then be run on those increments for a given time period. As an example A simple report would be like this: HOTP drop value from Y date to present=A Contrast that against - HOTP drop vale from X date to Y date=B Drop rate increase or decrease from time period can be quantified by B/A= drop rate

If it isn't bugged for all users, then there definitely would have been events recorded. That's my suspicion as to why QA said that it still was dropping. Still, the point holds that they should have looked into it in depth when they were seeing reports of users with 1000 - 2000 kills

I'm with you on all of that dude. What gets me is that RNG is too much a part of this game. I can't tell u how many times people said "man just keep farming, ull get it. Hey I don't have my galley yet and I've played like 500 hours, and you have yours! It's all RNG." But the deal is, during those 500 hours, you probably didn't have 400 definite chances at a ghorn drop like I have killed blades. Even with fractional drop rates below 1% I should have gotten ONE. I knew something was up. Anyway, my point is that a game with too much RNG makes it hard to find bugs and is very unrewarding at times. Defined goals should reap defined rewards. Leave SOME RNG but take out the scenario where day one players still don't have their fatebringer and stuff like that. The repetition loses its luster. Playing a raid over because you enjoy it is one thing, but doing it solely for a single weapon that won't drop for you is torture.
Anyway, my point is that a game with too much RNG makes it hard to find bugs and is very unrewarding at times.
There are a few fundamental problems with a loot systems based primarily on RNG, and you pointed out one of the bigger ones (the other being that as long as there is a chance it won't drop, there is a possibility, no matter how unlikely, that it will never drop). A lot of the posts about this issue were quickly dismissed as just bad luck because the drop rate for the Husk was already low, and I, unfortunately, believed them as I have had great luck with other drops after HoW and was convinced that my lack of success during Husk farming was just my luck being balanced out.

Yeah I, too, wasted a lot of time farming this. An atheon kill takes about an hour, give or take, and can be done with a chance for loot 3 times a week max (assuming you're farming hardmode). I've gotten all the loot he can drop over the course of the last two months. I havnt missed a week on any of my chars, it's taken perseverance, but I got his whole drop list. I thought "surely, if bungie says it drops, I will get something that I can roll a chance for 40 times an hour. No matter how bad my luck is, it will eventually pop up for me." I wish they would do their homework before answering posts when the ramifications of their answer can impact tons of people negatively. I'm sure no harm was meant. This guy is just thinking "Yeah, it drops, we never removed it from the coding on purpose..." But still, there have been countless forum topics devoted to this, they should have looked sooner.

So true. I was also told by a Mentor to keep trying. I have spent many hours grinding for nothing just to later realize I was right from the begging stating it must have been bugged.

Edited by Penhalion Wolfe: 7/20/2015 4:38:03 PMIt used to drop a lot for me but, as I noted when another guardian and I got into a conversation, it hasn't dropped since the HoW patch. It looks like removing the knights from the main game (something I flagged as having to have broken TDB bounties and content and was fobbed off with nope it's fine) has indeed broken TDB content! The thing I kept saying at the time was that you can't remove the triggers for functionality in a game and still expect that functionality to work correctly. The bounty for instance still says look on earth and the moon. The knights should simply not have been removed. They should have spawned for anyone with the bounty or anyone running a TDB mission. The planets are instanced so it's not rocket science to drop a player off on an instance that includes sword knights if they have a sword bounty now is it!
