If Sony would just stop letting you connect to PSN with whatever MTU you want then this would stop happening. That's why these videos are always on PS...

  • I've had lagswitchers in IB on Xbox.

  • Lag switching isn't the same thing.

  • Still it can cause the same things.

  • Not really... Lag switchers have to be careful not to hold down the lag switch for too long or they'll get disconnected. With this method happening on PSN they don't have to do anything. They're just invulnerable forever.

  • Still we all agree it is getting ridiculous.

  • The ability to change MTU settings was the right move for them to make. It allows people to get level performance out of PSN even on dated networking hardware. It sucks that people have figured out how to abuse it though. To be fair though even if Sony removed the feature it could still be manipulated in the router firmware. I'm kind of surprised no one has figured out how to make it work on X Box Live. It can be done just not as easily.

  • Xbox Live requires at least an MTU of 1364 I believe... If your MTU is less than that your connection will be refused. Sony lets you lower your MTU to the 800s which is why all of the cheaters are running rampant in trials on their system.

  • I know very little about the network of Xbox Live. I more or less base my assumptions off of prior experience with Microsoft networking products. Thanks for the info though, always looking to be schooled. It does suck that people are abusing a feature meant to enhance connectivity. Unfortunately, and I've said this about MS before so now it is Sony's turn, whenever you set up code or hardware for maximum accessibility you have to sacrifice network security and integrity. Sony really needs to get their IT people on the ball man. I hate Microsoft with a passion but, when they get network security better than their competitor that says a lot about the competitor's competency in that area.
