The main reason for this update 2.0 is to make all of your favorite year one weapons, not so great anymore, so that you might be more receptive of the year two weapons that will drop with TTK. This is made further evident by the fact that they are pretty much nerfing weapons across the board, even ones that didn’t need it. Of course they are giving other somewhat valid reasons for the update as well, but these are being used as smoke screens to hide the true intent of the patch.
There is a lot that Bungie does not want you to know about TTK DLC, this is why we get no solid details from Bungie about it. Here are a few rumored things they don’t want you to know. TTK DLC will basically be a reset, with all new weapons to grind out all over again, they refer to these weapons as year two weapons. Also, neither legendary or exotic year one weapons will be ascendable. Bungie update 2.0 will nerf your year one arsenal to the point of being less desirable, it will then be easier for them to separate you from those favorite weapons when TTK drops in September. All of this is an attempt to make TTK, year two weapons a little more appealing than they would have been, had they not nerfed your year one gear.
Why would they do this? The answer to this question is simple. Destiny lacks content, they withheld major portions of it to later release as high priced DLC. Being that content is lacking, Bungie decided that they want to reset progress and make players grind out everything all over again. They do this by introducing new year two gear, to make up for the lack of content. Many are ok with that and say it is expected from games like this. Others are not ok with it. Either way, Bungie should just fully disclose what their plans are and reveal in detail, exactly what new content players will be getting for their $40.

Edited by BoomerSooner51: 7/19/2015 7:04:33 PMThis is exactly what I thought when I read the update 2.0 notes. Some of the nerfs were out of left field. Ice Breaker? Black Hammer? The magazine shrinkage for ALL hand cannons? They just -blam!-ing buffed shotguns in the last round of nerfs/buffs! And they didn't even have the balls to TRULY nerf Gjallarhorn. They pulled some weak ass bullshit about nerfing the Wolfpack Rounds. Either nerf the thing or don't. But when you half ass a nerf you look like a pussy coward. The whole goal appears to be to make our gear look less sexy when compared to the upcoming TTK gear. Which will also make us less interested in the fact that we may not be able to ascend Year One gear. If only there were enough momentum for a coup.

This is exactly why im waiting for feedback for TTK before i buy it. If i can't ascend my weapons im not buying, i'll just go buy Metal Gear Solid: Phantom Pain

Edited by Lemons: 7/19/2015 5:31:11 AMAlright, I'm sick of seeing this EVERYWHERE. There is ZERO proof that Bungie disk ripped parts of Destiny. Those areas that were glitched into were likely in-progress. Seeing the Lighthouse in an E3 trailer? It's a TEASER. Those things were IN PROGRESS. I'll gladly reconsider my stance if you can give me one iota, one shred, of concrete proof.

The truth is no one other than those in Bungie and Activision know exactly how things went down. It certainly appears to me like a TON of Bungie's issues are related to time and meeting tight deadlines. Bungie showed they have the talent to make the masterpiece that is Vault of Glass. Then they fell on their face with Crota and had to resort to false difficulty in the form of making Gaurdians under leveled for hard mode. But Bungie's recent miss steps have earned them a cancellation of the Collectors Edition on my part and now I'm going to wait until it comes out abs and see the community's response before I decide whether to buy it.

Makes a lot of sense.
