Blacksmith shaders gained via Call of Duty:AW preorders, were console codes. Last gen systems (Xbox 360, PS3), and next gen systems (Xbox One, PS4), are neither backwards nor forwards compatible with one another. Any license owned for one of those systems, be it a game, expansion, or item add on, is specific to the platform on which it is owned, due to the Digital Rights Management system set up by the console manufacturers. Unfortunately, this means the shader license, which was redeemed as a Microsof/Sony code, is specific to the platform on which it was redeemed. The blacksmith shader for CoD:AW was an Activision promo for ordering a different game - not a Bungie promotion, and was therefore a console code. Bungie was not involved in the distribution of the item. Unfortunately, the help article you noted, is the correct answer to this issue.

Concise clear cut and not at all confusing. A great answer any member should be satisfied with.

  • It it still not the answer I'm looking for, it's payed content that shouldn't have been locked in the first place and it's upsetting that I can use something I had access to previously. I want to be able to use it, they way that it's been handle as some sort of rare item is outlandish because the only thing that's rare should be the original collector's edition content. I want someone higher up to help me here, this should not be a problem among the community, people should not have to go out to get a new code just so they can unlock something they already had. It's frustrating to say the least. Also it is a Bungie promotion, at least half of it is, the Activision help forum redirects you to here, so please do not say it's their promotion if it's an item that unlocks in this game.

  • You didn't pay for the code, you paid for a game which gave you a bonus. It is tied to your console as almost everyone knows by now. Mods are the highest help you are going to get here.

No they are not, we can go higher than the mods. As much as I know they're trying to help, it's not solving my problems. Edit: I did pay for the code, 5 bucks at launch in order to use it.

  • You're $5 was not for the code, it was for preordering the gane as its included in the price of the game, again the shader was a bonus. Otherwise if you paid an additional $5 onto the price for a shader, that was honestly stupid, and you got taken advantage of.

  • Yes it was for the code. It felt like it was but obviously you don't think it was. No I think Bungie taking advantage of people who got screwed like this, and they want us to continue supporting their game? Laughable.

  • No...because anytime you drop $5 on a pre-order it goes towards the price of the game, unless they specifically said "hey do you want to pay another $5 for a shader for destiny", it was for the price of the game itself.

  • So if I bought destiny on 360 does that mean I can get a free copy on Xbox one? Of course not, it's a code redeemable to your console not an online socal account

  • Yet the newer codes for the shader are tied to your account on this very site, which should have been done in the first place.

  • But it's not a code from bungie, it's a promo from an entirely different company. All the grimore and shader codes on the Internet are ones bungie released. Plus this shit happens all over the gaming industry do u think that your one shite looking shader is worth all this bs?

  • Then explain why the codes from E3 and more recent events tie to your BNET account? It's Bungie's doing. They added a new code and it isn't a all for one code which makes zero sense. See now I have no point in arguing with you because you're now mocking a problem I have. Good bye.

  • Bungie. Didn't. Make. It. Bad. Activision sold the code. You chose not to read the terms and conditions (as does everyone) and now you're complaining which is doing nothing to help your case. The people that have replied are trying to help, if you keep being whiney when you don't like the answer, YOU'LL STOP GETTING THEM. It was a free code, you used it, you can't use it more than once. It's a game, don't worry about it.

  • Wait, the DRM war didn't extend to video game stuff? Just music?
