Can you recommend a salary comparison site? -
I did this research while I was in school (2014) and concluded that sys admins were runner up, programmers being the highest cape about 130k. system admins 86-102k. It didn't state approx how long with company, and as you said too, other deciding factors (living area, XP, etc.)
Again, I.T. knowledge always appreciated!

I think the problem is that sites have a very broad definition of what a sys admin is. I just looked at system admins on salary.com and they seem to consider that a simple helpdesk job. If you look at similar jobs, you see stuff like system application analysis level V and shit like that which is just fancy titles for higher level admins. All easily achievable with enough experience and desire. You gotta be really willing to take on new roles and challenges if you don't want to get stuck in helpdesk. In job interviews I usually exaggerate any skills I have because I know how easy it is to learn new stuff as you go. If you see a job that you think is just over your qualifications, go for it, say you can do it and just figure it out. Almost all problems can be resolved by Google anyways!

I always tell people when it comes to IT. the ?Job outline NEVER outlines th actual duties and task done on a daily. Espically for a sys admin. Wouldn't be much of an IT guy if I couldn't solve problems know what I mean haha... Thanks man, good lookin out! I'll remember this convo
