Partly because stuff is not the same price in different places, it isn't as straight forward as using an exchange rate. Different tax systems, different wages, different economies there are a whole host of reasons. However, a better comparison is the ttk vs the original purchase price for the game in each location, which is also very high for the uk.
Buuuuut, whatever I'll buy it anyway. If you don't think it's worth £40 then don't buy it, pretty simple really, just supply and demand. If you really want it, but think £40 is too much, but buy it anyway, then you actually must think it is worth it....
