An all powerful being that can all and every event unfold before it and yet still choices to create a race that is inherently flawed and yet still punishes that race is not a saviour it is a tyrant a being mad with power and yet indifferent to any harm or suffering that comes to its creations.
Let's lol at this shall we.
Gay=Hell
Lesbian=hell
Lie=hell
Cheat=hell
Worship another God=hell
Work on the sabbath=Hell
Wear clothes of mixed fabrics=hell
Slavery=fine
-blam!- (as long as you marry your victim)=fine
Beatings=fine (as long as the slave lives for X amount of days after the beating)
Marrying your cousin=fine
Marrying your betrothed and her slaves=fine
Taking women as spoils of war=fine
Segregation of races/nationalities=fine
How the Fück is any of that the moral system of an all loving,caring,moral creator? Those are the rules and regulations of a being that has gone mad with its power and unfit to be called God.
English
-
Half of that is a load a rubbish
-
Really? Well your solid argument has convinced me.....
-
I put a more detailed comment in response to the other guy
-
Except for the marrying your cousin I'm fairly certain I've read all of those in the bible.
-
Slavery=fine
this is certainly not true and completely misunderstood sometimes, where in the bible does it say this?
-blam!- (as long as you marry your victim)=fine
that wasn't "-blam!-=fine" that was trying to at least let the woman get a husband because most people wouldn't marry her after that

Beatings=fine (as long as the slave lives for X amount of days after the beating)
never heard of this couldn't comment
Marrying your cousin=fine
not sure on this but I know incest was prohibited whether that was just brother/sister or cousins as well I am not sure
Marrying your betrothed and her slaves=fine
that's half fair
Taking women as spoils of war=fine
a lot of the time the Israelites were prohibited from taking spoils of any kind let alone people
Segregation of races/nationalities=fine
what? There was a commandment to be hospitable towards foreigners living in the land and treat them like their own

God created us with free will to do as we please Knowing what would happen but not knowing All those things you listed can be forgiven but only by God and not idols I personally sin every day only to ask for forgiveness. Everyone deserves to go to hell but God being who he is is willing to forgive you for every wrong doing in your life and many of you are probably thinking what if there was a tribe somewhere in the world that has never even seen the outside world they don't deserve to be condemned because they have never heard the word of God . God is about justice and since those people have never heard about God he will judge them on their moral like even if you aren't a Christian or religious we all know stealing cheating and all the basic wrong doings. If you didn't do those things and you know they are wrong and you ask for forgiveness for doing it no matter who you ask God will judge you accordingly

I'm an atheist (Have to clarify since atheists who study belief systems are rare), and by the Christian's defintion all humans are sinners including Christians. The difference is "Christ followers" try to live a pure life while still making "mistakes" as opposed to others not caring. What you just wrote shows how much knowledge you lack on the belief. Replace everything you said with Human= hell That is more accurate within the Christian faith. Secondly, based off of what I've learned, "God" determines your fate if you decide to "accept God", when people state "God" knows your everythought, this signifies that "God" knows whether or not you truly believe in him. Basically your he knows where your plan is going if you trust and believe in "God", and let "God be in charge". The things is according to the Christian bible humans are self aware, meaning the determine what is "right" and "wrong" such as if they were "God", that's my understanding.

Yes and God = heaven get your facts right please
-
Lolwut
-
First of all Wrong second of all if you aren't Christian then why are you on this form?
-
Form? Or forum? And I'm here as its named off topic not 'religious ppl only' also nice way to put your argument. This is exactly why atheists laugh at religious ppl because when someone says something against the others religion the response is often to stick ya fingers in your ears and ignore what others are saying. Religion is a security blanket for adults nothing more. If there is a god it's either indifferent to us or evil.

Edited by SSG ACM: 8/5/2015 6:33:48 AMWhat? I have to say that I completely disagree with your statement concerning God since it appears you just ignored the justice that He applied to His creation.

Good job

What makes you think that there isn't a God? "Lack of evidence" is one of the common answers I see. "Science contradicts it" is another one. What defines science as the basis of everything there is? After all, science is constantly disproven by itself. The model of the atom was revised many times. Flat Earth Theory was accepted as a scientific truth for hundreds of years. So was the "fact" that the earth is the center of the universe. When someone came around and said, "The earth is actually round," he was laughed at and mocked for his "absurd" theory. Suppose God exists, but our modern technology and our current knowledge of the universe can't prove it. Perhaps we aren't advanced enough as a species to understand exactly what God is. And that's the principle behind faith - putting your trust in something that you can't prove or understand. It sounds impossible, foolish even. It's not for everyone, certainly. But this is my opinion and my belief, and I am entitled to it. And you are entitled to yours.
-
Respect to you and your opinion and yes I understand faith. Science does disprove itself and it is not afraid to be disproven In Fact many scientists work tirelessly to disprove other scientific theories. Flat earth was a commonly held belief not a scientific argument. As for the sun revolving around the Earth that was put forward by Christianity not scientists it was merely a case of not having the tools to disprove which later became available. I have nothing against the existence of a higher being call it what you will I am a deist and believe that while the universe shows no signs of having had nor needing a creator I don't dismiss that it may of had one. Current religions to me are a fallacy they speak of an all loving kind and merciful God when all holy writings of abrahamic origin show otherwise. I believe if there is a creator being out there then we have yet to discover it, be contacted by it, or wether it even wants to do so. I try (and fail) not to judge others on their opinions they are what make us different after all but to believe in an almighty being that loves us more then anything else and still punishes every generation of humanity after the original two that sinned is beyond mad it's tyrannical. Also add to all the other horrors and complexities of life and an all loving being becomes even more of an impossibility. If there is a creator being it is either entirely indifferent to us or abandoned us long ago.
-
Bro my last name is Deist no joke
-
Lol cool.
-
What does deist mean honestly
-
Basically someone that sees,knows and understands how the universe can exist and have come about without the need of a creator but at the same time accepts the possibility of it having had a creator.
-
Sorry for spelling forum wrong

How many times must I explain that everything that I stated concerning the justification for God is not as it was when we're under New Testament ordinance? We're no longer primitive. Oh...and it's actually, "Anything human=hell," if you want to be specific.
-
Ahh thanks for clearing that up. Guess it will be warm where I'm going.
-
If you wish it to be. ^_^

Well seems I have lil choice when each religion is supposedly the true one and when each God will send you to hell for worshipping the wrong God whose to say which ones right? A book? As much as I may decry the existence of a God and believe that if there is one it is indifferent to us all together I don't begrudge others their beliefs. Personally I have a mind that far to questioning the simple 'God works in mysterious ways' or 'God did it' answers we get do not satisfy if anything they annoy me as they are a white wash answer from a mind that doesn't actually know.
