Hello everyone! If you clicked on this then you want to hear my Idea, so without further delay here it is! Please leave a comment on your Ideas about a new weapon class! Thanks in advance!
The fusion lance is meant to be a heavier version of a fusion rifle, it's long barrel is shaped like a sparrow's, two "prongs" and a gap in-between them. The gap is where the laser is fired, and seen inside is the large fusion coil that sits snugly at the start of the barrel. Lances start appearing at Legendary weapon rarity much like the Vestian Dynasty. The lance is designed for long range engagements where an enemy is too far to hit accurately with a machine gun and too far for a rocket to land a fatal blow. Think of the lance as a heavy sniper, used to decimate targets from afar. The shot stays active for half a second, thus making the lance capable of "side swiping" when it fires to clear another area in a quick movement. Each beam has an aura around it, this is a field of damage that still deals damage to and targets close enough to be effected. The aura does have damage fall-off as targets become farther from the original shot. Beams fired also pierce targets allowing for multiple kills.
Stats: All fusion lances come with the following stats
*Charge rate- The slowest charge time possible is three seconds (which is awful) while the fastest is about half a second.
*Radiance- A stat found only on fusion laces, this stat tells how much damage a target is dealt if the beam does not hit them directly. This does have damage fall-off.
*Range- The effective range of the weapon, This stat is commonly high.
*Stability- The amount of recoil control the weapon has. The higher the stability the lower the weapon's recoil.
*Reload- The time it takes to load another magazine into the weapon.
*Magazine size- the amount of shots in a single clip. Normally one-three shots.
Perks: These are special perks found only on fusion lances, but not the only perks they can have!
***First Tree
*Overcharge- Increases magazine size to three shots
*Vortex- Increases the aura around shots by 25%
***Second Tree
*Compressed Energy- The end of the beam explodes dealing a decent amount of AoE damage.
*Focused Energy- Beams fired can pierce thin walls allowing for some surprise attacks on you foes.
*Ravenous Energy- Beams fired seek out targets inside the scopes' sight (Most of the time the beams will only hit targets close to the reticle with the tracking effect). Firing without sighting does not trigger this perk.
Reloading Animation: The reloading animation combines the fusion rifle's with the rocket launcher's. Players slide the top of the gun forward and remove a battery-like clip similar to the way a fusion rifle's looks. The player then proceeds to insert a new clip inside, slide the top back into place, and then bang on the top of the gun. The gun is now ready to fire.
Fusion Lance names: A couple names for Lances
*Zeus Cannon (arc damage)- "The lightning is merely a warning, prepare for the coming thunder"
*Solar Flare (solar damage)- "Feed me the cinders of your foes"
*The Rift (void damage)- "Tear time, shred reality"
*Drakmaw's Wisdom (any)- "A lance forged in fire by the lords of the Iron Banner"
Exotic Lance: One exotic lance that I've come up with
Starblight (void damage)- "When light is consumed, it is not the devouring of energy, but merely a change in it's form" -17th Understanding, 3rd Book of Sorrow
*Lore- When we discovered that Dredgen Yor created the weapons of sorrow we had sought to destroy them, and eventually we thought we had succeeded. Thorn was proof that we had missed one, but now we know there was another. Dredgen had secretly been modifying a LF003 fusion lance, a model that had been proven faulty. His corrupted mind twisted the weapon's frame into his image, a husk of darkness with no light to be found. The weapon, just as Thorn, seems to have some way of communicating with its wielder and has a desire to feast on the light of fallen guardians. Light that is consumed appears to be mangled into a vile source of power. The Vanguard cannot destroy it, but maybe it can be starved.
*Starblight upgrade tree:
Selectable Perk 1
*CQB ballistics *Aggressive Ballistics *Field Choke
Primary Perk
*Vortex
Selectable Perk 2
*Accelerated Coils *Send it *Perfect Balance
Secondary Perk (Exotic)
*The Devourer- Earning multiple kills with one shot adds another round into the magazine. In PvE the number kills required is three. In PvP the number of kills required is two. Note that scoring multiple kills above the required limit with one shot will not return more ammo into the magazine (example: scoring eight kills in PvE with one shot will only return one shot).
Upgrades(?)
That's all for the Fusion Lance, please supply some feedback or bump this post so others can find it! I'd really appreciate it! As always, stay safe guardians!
EDIT: Due to popular demand, the Fusion Lance only fires one beam instead of it being several smaller ones. To compensate, I've made it so that the beam can stay active for half a second before it is fully done "firing". Hope you agree with this change!
EDIT: Twenty replies guys! Thanks so much for the support and feedback!

You want a Spartan Laser? I dig it

2 RepliesSpartan Laser Solar damage Special perk: Spartan Laser: Rounds explode on impact
xbox exclusive
1 ReplyThrows money at OP for rail gun.
-
1 ReplyRename it to railgun, and you've got a winner. Fusion Lance sounds wierd.
-
1 ReplyBump, I love this idea.
-
2 RepliesSo pretty much a railgun?
-
5 RepliesI like it. But I think it should be one larger beam rather than a few smaller. And I think that the beam should pierce enemies
-
1 ReplyI think it should have a huge mag, starts out firing in a wide spread, then the beams start to combine into one super OP beam and then the ammo runs out. Look up last prism in Terraria. That's what I was going for.
-
1 ReplyBump Well thought out and has a different utility than the other heavies. Also would be a blast to use

2 RepliesEdited by Swiftlock: 7/15/2015 9:11:02 AMNot sure why I'd use this over a high-impact LMG with Field Scout in PvE or a perfectly-rolled rocket launcher with Javelin in PvP. It sounds fun to use, but I don't see the utility. In PvE, I want a heavy that can suppress enemies at both close and far-off ranges while being able to shower a stupid bullet sponge boss with huge, consistent damage from a safe distance away over long periods of time. In PvP, I want a heavy that can IMMEDIATELY shut down enemies before I die in half a second to Thorns and Last Words.
-
1 ReplyI like the sound of it mainly because of the presentation xD but yes more heavy weapon styles are required in my opinion.
-
2 RepliesSo like a gauss rifle or rail gun?
-
1 ReplyEh. Why not? But me? I want a gorram laser weapon!
-
1 ReplyA Rail Gun type weapon, that is designed specifically to F○○K up Boss Level characters would be a great idea. Kind of like what Gjallerhorn has accidentally ended up being.
-
2 RepliesThe only thing I would change is make it one big Lance so that it isn't so close to fusion rifles, and then I would completely love this idea. Feels like it'd just be abused so super heavily in its current state. I'm thinking non-exploding nova bomb type lances.

1 ReplySo you are talking about a heavier version of the Queenbreaker? Meh. Not bad.
-
1 ReplyGood idea!
-
1 ReplySorta reminds me of the Spartan Laser
-
1 ReplyStill gonna use rockets
-
1 ReplyIts basically a Spartan Laser.

1 ReplyYou look cute today
