Fine with it, but I'm from Louisiana. We been doing this forever. Everybody made a big deal about Texas allowing open carry with a permit, we've had open carry, no permit required forever.

This isn't about open carry....

I didn't say it was. I'm just pointing out that when states pass laws like these people start to speculate about the consequences with out looking at states with similar laws. As far as the public servant aspect go, the cop will probably rethink 2am no knock warrants for minor crimes. The part about a "reasonable person believing" is not just saying "I thought he was gonna kill me" and get off. It's making the district attorney, grand jury, or jury believe it was reasonable to shot.

Edited by Britton: 7/9/2015 1:13:52 AMThere are no other states where self defense laws make it legal to use force, especially lethal force, against public servants. So we can only speculate about the possible situations that may arise.

Like I said, the police will probably start only rethinking no knock warrants on the local weed dealer. It also doesn't give free reign to shoot at cops even then because if you know you are committing at crime and someone breaks down the door and scream "police, police, pull your hands up" a reasonable person would relieve those were cops doing their job.

I think most people are reasonable and the law will serve those people right, but I also think this has the capacity to enable some really bad things too.
