You're getting more than double the content of either of the previous expansions for the $40. Also, people buying the legendary/collector's aren't getting TTK for free. You're forgetting to account for the devaluation of a year-old game. Most games get a GOTY edition these days, which is basically what this is. It's a reduction in cost of the old content in a package tied with the new content. Not the other way around.

day 1 player here, got a question Sir i've bought Destiny (physical copy) for 65EUR, then got the expansion pass for another 35EUR. now, let's pretend i AM actually a fan and a collector, and would like to lay my hands on the CE goodies (...regardless of whether they're sold out or not), so my only take is to RE-BUY the stuff i've already bought for 100EUR (112USD) and spit out additional 80USD, ...totalling almost 200USD for something a completely New player who just decided to get into the game gets for 80USD how does that make any sense? or am i missing something here?
-
It sucks, but that's the nature of collectibles. One could argue you've gotten far more than your money's worth out of your original payment considering you've been playing the game this long. I know I have.
-
....i'm just wondering whether it wouldn't be welcome with much less grief if Bungievision actually made a cheaper version of teh CE pack w/o the original disc instead of forcing players to re-buy shit they paid for already regardless of how much more worth i've gotten
-
You're basing your double the content off the GB size of TTK only, yes? Because Bungie has been very clever to be vague about what the content actually includes, and based off what they have said so far, it doesn't sound like any more content than was in TDB.
-
Edited by Aurion77: 6/26/2015 5:55:51 PMAt least 12 new missions, 6 or so strikes, a raid, and a new patrol area along with new crucible modes. Not to mention the new subclasses of course. That's quite a bit more than TDB and TTK combined.
-
12 story missions and 6 strikes? Lol. You do not know that. In fact, you're just making that up. There is nothing that Bungie has provided that gives the information you are trying to pass off as true. It says new missions, new strikes, and a raid. Raid is singular. Missions and strikes are plural, but beyond that, we don't know.
-
It was established months ago there would be at least 12 new missions and 6 new strikes.
-
Edited by SWIFTJUSTICE : 6/26/2015 6:09:12 PMNo. I think you are talking about the reddit comet leak that also confirmed HoW would have a raid, and comet had like 3 additional planets and 3 raids. Now, HoW had no raid, and TTK has only 1 raid. The speculation is that it will be 6 story missions, 2 new strikes (with another exclusive Sony one), and 1 raid.
-
I just looked up the source material again. It said nothing of new planets. It confirms 12 story missions and (my apologies) 4 new strikes, a new raid, a new patrol, 6 new pvp maps (likely where I remembered the 6 from since I was thinking 4 maps) and 3 new subclasses.
-
Where did you find this source material? Can you post a link? Is this something that Bungie put out when they announced TTK at e3?
-
From the same reddit image you incorrectly referenced previously.
-
I intentionally used the word confirmed. It was sarcastic, because it's now been confirmed that the reddit post was not correct. If that's where you are getting your info from, you're also incorrect.
-
Edited by Aurion77: 6/26/2015 6:35:24 PMBungie had never commented on the photo. The content shown could still change, but it is still somewhat reliable considering the only HoW info in the image that wasn't in the actual DLC was a raid, which Bungie said several times (after the photo leak) was planned but had to be cut shortly before HoW released. You're welcome to be as skeptical as you like, but the points I've mentioned is the most accurate and reliable info we have at the moment.
-
PS isn't getting exclusive strikes this time, just a weapon and an armor set for each class.
-
Forbes articles disagree. http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2015/06/17/what-looks-awesome-and-awful-about-destinys-the-taken-king/

Reddit didn't "confirm" that was datamined pics
-
Good job. That was my point. It wasn't accurate information.
-
It may not be accurate, however it is the most accurate info we have at the moment, therefore the most reliable by default until we hear differently.
-
I say we wait for more info before we get all salty. My doctor told me to cut down. I'm hoping for good things. But we'll see.
-
Gameplay looks great so far. I wasn't a day one player, so i don't have any good protection from another dissapoinmen, although...
-
It does. I started in March. Got 2 31's & a 14. I love the game & don't care about all the "we're owed something" boiz.
-
I'd also say to wait for more info before we start making claims about "double the content", which was the purpose of my response. It seems we both agree that it's irresponsible to try to portray ignorance as knowledge.
-
Agreed mate
-
But they are also charging us a lot at the same time that people are getting this deal. And the deal also values dedtiny and the first two expansions at a total of $20 while destiny alone must be bought for $40-$50.
-
That's because the content hasn't released yet and they can still capitalize on sales at the current price before they have to drop it. Once TTK comes out, Destiny by itself will quickly drop to $20.
