The whole pricing scheme of TTK baffles me. It really does not make sound business sense at all. This is coming from someone that spent almost their entire career in management. There are so many things wrong with TTK's pricing (HoW and TDB as well) that it is shocking.
Where any company makes the bulk of their sales from is repeat customers. It's a mantra and pretty much an absolute axiom in business. You are always looking to make a single purchase become repeat business. There are a few tried and true methods to do this, but it's generally a combination of factors. Value for purchase/money, great experience for the customer, great customer service, communication and transparency w/ the customer (even the staff).
What Bungie is doing violates everything one does to drive repeat sales. You NEVER make a customer feel like their purchase/time is meaningless to you. You NEVER treat a customer like a mobile atm. You NEVER tell the customer it's them and not you if a problem occurs. If you do those things you are driving away your customers and pushing them right into the arms of a competing company. It's insanely self-destructive to do what Bungie has been doing.
In short, people are what make a business successful. If you routinely make a habit of pissing off your customers you are shooting yourself in the foot.

Edited by Dubious Neon: 6/28/2015 8:21:03 PMBump. Bungie needs to stop taking these posts down. It's only further proving to me that they know what they're doing/being forced to do is wrong. And they should have known a storm was coming, because this tension has existed since the first two expacs were announced, and got worse when they were released and seemed more like they should have been part of the base game or had more content, either/or. Still, we soldiered on, hoping it would get better. The Taken King is announced. It looks absolutely tremendous. Then the pricing...and the CE.....Why Bungie? This is going to cost me even more as a Brit/European gamer, because they just take the $ price and tack it on to £ without adjusting it for relative economic value at all. Not only is it whizzing all over everyone's chips to announce a CE with all the expacs and what not with new exclusive emotes and exotics etc, for what will assumably cost £60 in total. it's adding turd to the p*** parade to then expect me, a year 1 player, to fork out £60 for something someone else is getting for the same price, with all the content I've spent around ~£80 on already. But according to Luke Smith, it's okay because I get a few cosmetic bits and pieces that will make me feel like a Pretty Guardian Princess?? I can't even imagine how people who bought the original bonus editions must feel. Are you for real, Bungie? Like, not only is this a terrible way to treat your community, it makes 0 business sense to aggravate a community that's already tolerated more than it's fair share of your crap. Won't be buying TTK unless it is more reasonably priced, or better yet, free, for veteran players. I don't hold out much hope, so seeya, I'm going to go and play Bloodborne, by From Software, you know, a gaming company that doesn't continuously treat it's fans with disrespect, listens to it's community and doesn't treat them like a cash cow. /peace

I'm not proud to admit it but I know what it's like to buy from a drug dealer. I'm drug free now(yay). I feel like the addictive qualities of Destiny are absolutely known to Acti-Bungie and that they're factored in to how much of the game they sell and for how much at a time. They know how much we play and how starved we are for more. It's how it is. No doubt. My point is that they're not operating like a legitimate business but like drug dealers.

I agree with everything you said :), thanks for such a professional and personal expression. I am really sad that they are being so self-righteous and indignant at their customers. It just pathetic really.

Thanks. I agree that is pathetic what Bungie is doing. In a lot of ways it's really sickening to watch a once storied company, that did so many things right, descend into madness and become an example of what not to do.

You're used to dealing with adults. Bungie is dealing with children.
