I have never heard or seen people get match via Grimoire.
Personal experience was that i mainly get match with people all over, some under 1000, some under 2000, some under 3000, and some over
its all over the place. Even in Osiris, its all over the place, I've rarely come across a team consisting of an average of over 3000 (yes i did the math for both their team and my team.) One of my friends which started later than I did by a a good 2-3 months, and his/her grimoire was lower than 2000 (now its around 2500 i think) and they are in all honesty a better destiny player. Skill beats out in some parts for some moments, but having experience also helps out. The more he/she played, the more he/she learned.
So probably saying is that grimoire means nothing important, you've just been on a grind for more information, just bragging rights, or even just a big number (cause that is what its all about). having a grimoire near 3500, I don't look at grimoire as a term of skill, but a term of how much effort and time you've been in the game. But as they say, you can't just a book by its cover. You'll never know when you'll be impressed.

Huh usually I noticed in PvE I get matched with people with similar grimoire. That doesn't seem to e the case for pvp though.
