Also this isn't the first game or company to do this, so why are people acting like destiny and bungie are pure evil and they are the originators of this idea

I got this. It's not the promotion that is irritating. They are putting content for an already $40 expansion onto an energy drink in stores in the US and Canada only. After your veteran players already feel pissed off at you for that PR fiasco, they feel even less compelled to touch your game after this as well.
