NOT BY ME I hate what Luke Smith said as much as any other angry destiny player right now but this is something I recommend reading.
Shit, I get more than dance moves. I give a rats ass what reddit thinks of it. I'm not rebuying old content, I'm just spending that extra $40 on silly shit. Same reason I spent the extra money on the Fallout 4 collectors edition. Buy the expansion for $40. You don't need the extra stuff. You just want it, but don't value it as much as they are selling it for. But somehow you think you deserve it for you imagined loyalty. What loyalty? You paid for a product. You got a product. That's not loyalty. That's being a consumer. Loyalty would be buying the expansion at $80 even if you didn't like it. But no, that's not happening. So this is real simple. They have a product for sale that you don't want to pay for. Simple solution: don't buy it.
Your thoughts on it?

  • It's simple for some to just not buy the DLC if we think it's not worth the price... however, there are plenty of gamers out there (COD's fanbase is proof) that will buy anything that seems cool regardless of how shady the deal is. So, developers will continue to put the "cool stuff" into those packages for the sheep that buy it.... and Bungie and similar money grubbing developers will continue use this greedy model for future expansions and DLCs. The enlightened gamers here, you know, the ones that won't buy the DLC on principal alone, is trying to show the sheep the light so that it discourages developers to continue this practice, which in the long run hurts the gamers. Or you can just be one of those type of people in life that just coast through life and sits there and watch dishonorable things happen. Note, money is not an issue for me, it's the point that greed is driving games and this industry into the dirt. This is something I care about because I'm a mature gamer that cares about the big picture, because I understand that it factors into my future enjoyment and interest in gaming. Get it now?
I'm just spending the extra $40 on silly shit
Who does this? Mortal combat offering new costumes or even fatalities for $40? No. This ridiculous. Who ever wrote this has an obvious disconnect with the minds of consumers.
You want it but you don't value it
Are you effing kidding? Who the hell would value those virtual pixels to such an amount, without acknowledging the waste involved. The person who posted this obviously doesn't value his work or his own money.

    • Don't agree. It's missing the point entirely. The content was very clearly designed so that the only way to get "loyalty" extras was to pay for it. The loyalty has nothing to do with having played the game since Day 1, and everything to do with paying extra. The business meeting went as such: DLC price is $40 for DLC with absolutely nothing extra. If people want anything extra, we need to find a way to make them pay for it.
