While some may be gunning for free stuff, I think people are more upset with Luke's deliverance, as his words made it sound like the player base will throw money at them anyway, regardless of what they do.
Customers don't want to be told that they're viewed as nothing more than talking wallets, even if that is the case for some of them. That's what I got from the interview, though.
As for me, as soon as I get the money, I'm pre-ordering just the Taken King DLC. I can live without the newcomer exclusives, just like I can do without the Nepal shader/emblems, and the Blacksmith shader.
TL;DR: It's not the exclusive content that bugs me, it's Luke's attitude in that interview.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. We'll see if ttk is worth my $40 after all the content is announced. This attitude he seems to have is troubling. I know companies are about making money, but I would think for a game with a "10 year plan" they would want to keep their current player base happy rather than just change them out for new players once a year. But what do I know?
