Nerfing Thorn Makes no Sense at all

A Lot of Peoples Are thinking that nerfing the Thorn would change the balancing of the Crucible. But thats just BS. If the Thorn gets nerfed everyone is Going to use the Last Word and the Whole whining is Going to Repeat itself. So bungie shouldnt nerf the Thorn, instead they should buff the other weapons. Like autorifles. What do you guys think?

  • Both guns need looked at they're simply too good. I'm not calling for a nerf in a traditional sense, like we've seen across the board with most weapon archetypes. Honestly I don't believe that's what the community wants. We want these weapons to be good, sure, but fair, currently they're not. and Their prevalence in multiplayer is due to how user friendly they are on-top of being excessively powerful. Of course we're not talking about you specifically because you're a master of the crucible with you're .94 KD. However us other peasants, not ordained by the mercy of the Traveler must deal with these weapons. So let me as a mere mortal try and convey the issue to someone who's never dealt with it. Currently the Thorn has no draw backs, its a quick kill time, and it will ALWAYS kill in 2 head-shots 3 body shots, without exception. The weapon also has criminally easy handling, with the addition of Send It which not only add range, but bullet magnetism, (its how destiny accounts for the accuracy stat.) or Perfect Balance which allows you to spam the trigger uncontested, just for comparison Thorn has a 32 rate of fire, the exact same as the Last Word. Poison ensures that your opponent cant run and will always die, as long as the proper amount of shots has been placed on the target, see without poison the Thorn would require 3 to the head to kill and 4 to the body, falling in line with most Hand cannons and scout rifles. DoT however circumvents this. Then you have the video audio distortions when your hit with the weapon. Its simply too much. However with out DoT Thorn is just another hand Cannon The weapon is simply OP, because their is no down sides to using it. Balance requires a give and take a slower ROF, or one more shot to kill across the board, a reduction in the damage DoT does, a smaller mag size, a longer reload time, all of the above would help to make this gun more of a harasser, which I think it was always meant to be and less of the one gun to rule them all. The last Word's issues deal with its Damage perk, its glitched, and will grant bonus damage even when ADSed, and this happens all the time, I get it almost as often ADS'ed as I do not. The other issues is range, because of the way the weapon's damage bonus functions it is not always subject to damage drop off (if ever). The 111 will be awarded 1 foot away or 100 feet away, regardless of distance. TLW is a lot more fair then Thorn and does require more skill to use, however with the way the gun currently functions, not only is it broken, the nature of it being broken makes it OP, the gun already has a fast kill time with the fan fire, and is a 3 shot kill without the damage bonus. Red Death, I'd Like to see be one more shot to kill, but in that one more bullet to kill kinda way. Currently it takes 6 bullets to kill I'd like that to be upped to 7 or 8, simply because one if you nerf Thorn or TLW, Red Death would take its place, and two it heals you... Its a two shot kill that heals you, its not punishing enough for what it offers, there should be substantial risk reward. Also all shotguns need to be 2 shot kills, in PVP UNLESS you are in hugging distance. This will bring fusion rifles back, because they need to be the 2 shot RANGE killer, and shotguns need to be the 2 shot CQC killer, unless your in hugging range then its a 1 shot.
