Lil Wayne sucks and always has. Aside from a small handful of artists, hip-hop sucks compared to years ago. It's pretty strange to see the far and away most talented rapper be a white guy (Eminem).

  • How much hip-hop do you listen to? It's in an amazing state right now. Eminem is good - great, even - but far from the greatest.

I would disagree on the hip-hop comment, I really do believe hip hop is in one of it's better periods currently after having a good long drought of anything relatively great. Many artists gaining notoriety now are excellent. Kendrick Lamar J. Cole Ab-Soul Logic Joey Bada$$ G-Eazy A$AP Rocky Jarren Benton Lil Dicky Childish Gambino Earl Sweatshirt Chance the Rapper Action Bronson Vic Mensa Big Krit MGK ,etcetera...

Lol! NWA Public Enemy Redman Wu-Tang Clan Onyx Dr Dre Ice Cube Easy-E Nice+Smooth Big Daddy Kane Method Man A Tribe Called Quest Leaders of the New School Digital Underground Lords of the Underground Das Efx EPMD Eric B and Rakim Slick Rick Fu-Snickens Cypress Hill House of Pain Snoop Dogg Tupac The Notorious Big Naughty by Nature And the list could go on with some of the greats I'm missing. It's not even remotely close. Hip-Hop is trash when compared to yester-year.

Well if you wanted me to break out a bigger list of lesser known rappers I could, but obviously a list of past rappers is going to be bigger because there is more time for them to be known as great. Stop being a nostalgia rat and understand that a genre evolves. This new generation is young and has potential, while you can stay in your 90's mindset (btw half those rappers talk about the same shit mainstream rap talks about today) I'm going to love and appreciate the rap genre because I'm a rap fan. If it didn't evolve, the genre would die. Trust me, I love and respect the roots of hip hop, pun intended, but I understand that there's no way you could put out the same songs as rappers did in the 80's and 90's, today. The culture has changed.

  • My point is more to that they had superior vocal skills, much better background music, and the music was just more fun in general to listen to. Tupac had a deep message, old Beasties Boys was just fun, and I loved hearing the vocal skills from bands like Das Efx and Fu-Schnikens. All the shit background tracks nowadays, weak rapping, and auto-tune using clowns are just killing what was once such a dominant genre.
