There are different styles of rap, with different intentions.

I understand that, but wayne is still garbage at all of them.

In something like rap, you sometimes should make your judgements on form rather than content, as it is a form of poetry. People constantly talk about Notorious B.I.G. being one of the greatest. You know what he rapped about? Misogyny, selling crack, making money, drinking, smoking weed, etc. all the same things Wayne does. Someone like Biggie Smalls is known as being so good because of his flow, delivery, rhyme scheme, and other poetic elements like metaphors, alliteration, assonance, etc. Lil Wayne executes these pretty well actually, so I don't think it's a fair judgment to call him garbage. To each his own, and I understand you have your cup of tea. I favor lyricism, social consciousness, and introspection in rap rather than more generic topics, but I'm not going to demean someone on the other side of the spectrum to "garbage" without first considering both parts of what poetry is, form and content.

Edited by Space Fox : 6/9/2015 6:34:40 AMLil Wayne is a terrible lyricist, has the same generic flow, he has a terrible voice, and the same terrible hollywood message.
I'm sure you can relate to slinging crack, and running through the hood though.

Quest and Logic exexute all the contents of the "spectrum" that you described flawlessly.

You are contradicting your arguments.
I think this mixtape shows Lil Wayne's diversity with his flows. Also, I never attempted to call him lyrical. Also, my arguments never contradicted themselves. I never said that the artists mentioned didn't do that well, hell, Logic's Under Pressure had some extremely impressive flow and delivery for an artist so young. What I'm saying is that Lil Wayne does not release songs intended to have this deeper conscious meaning, and you judging as garbage for not doing something he never intended to do is unfair. Listen to the Dedication 2. Tha Carter II, Tha Carter III, No Ceilings, Da Drought is over 4. He is very capable of switching up flows, while retaining clever rhymes and a presence of metaphors.

I have sat down and listened to wayne, unwillingly of course. I will give the album a listen tomorrow and let you know my honest opinion of it.
