Unfortunately, no. Doing so would invalidate the countless hours some people have spent grinding, doing exotic bounties, and create a needless excess of messages begging for trades.
Play the game. And you'll get what you want, eventually. But trading is just an easy out.

I think that's the issue: grinding. We are sick of grinding. Always damn grinding.

I mean, yeah. It gets annoying, I'm not going to lie, but at the same time, how else are they going to make money off of the game? Like people's have said countless times, and I agree, giving everyone equal access to the best weapons and gear in the game would more than likely kill any inspiration to keep playing. There'd be no point in trying yourself countless time in raids and arenas if you could just start a lengthy game of trades. It'd be dumb. Social places would become bazaars, messages and trade requests would drive people mad... I, you know. That's kind of a worst case scenario,, I know. I just think it would change the gameplay dynamic for the worse. Take the excitement and emotional reward out of the endless grind, if indeed there is any. That's just me though. Thanks for the reply, btw.

You hold a point I never thought of though. Someone said something here that it can be put up only at the time it was picked up. Example: I pull a Vex from the VoG and already have one so I put it up for someone else in the party. The only thing to figure from here is do I lose out entirely or must the other player put something up in return?

That way it's not just some sort of consolation prize. I get that some people just have extraordinarily awful luck with drops, but especially with things like exotics, just giving them away is kind of dumb.

Ideally, they'd offer up something of equal or greater value, like what I think someone else has said. That would get rid of gifting, and make it so that its a sacrifice on behalf of all parties involved.
