After seeing so many people complain about thorn being too op and needing a nerf(even though it doesn't need one)I've decided to compile a list of weapons that could outclass thorn in a PvP battle. These are personal experience and weapon stat based.
These are in no particular order
1.Red Death
This exotic pulse rifle has great range, impact and rate of fire.It can kill guardians in two bursts, which would easily outclass thorn. It will heal you after kills,so it negates the DoT.Easily one of the best PvP weapons in the game
2.MIDA Multi Tool
Underestimated by most of Destiny's community, this beast can allow you to strafe easily and land crits. It can fire quicker than most other scout rifles, and with it doing about 55 crit dmg per hit,it can take down someone's health pretty quickly. If you have the aim, this thing will wreck in the right hands.
3.Spare Change.25
Carbon copy of red death.Except frees up an exotic slot.Kills in two bursts, and has great range and stability for a pulse rifle
4.Vex Mythoclast
While at medium to long range this gun cannot perform well,at close it's an absolute beast. Its high impact of a fusion rifle and it's fire rate proves it to hit hard.Since most of Destiny's maps are close range(example:Cauldron,Pantheon,Anomaly) it tends to have an easy time on most maps.Run with it and you will most likely win all of your 1v1s in crucible
5.Almost all Osiris exclusive primaries
These weapons are awarded to people who go undefeated in trials, and they're definitely worth it.While also being stellar PvE weapons, they have proved themselves in PvP.The jewel of Osiris has better stats than thorn(other than rate of fire)and can defeat it at close to mid range. The messenger, from what I've heard, behaves similarly to red death.Meaning that it can easily kill you in 2-3 bursts and it can fire quickly. The scholar is just another hard hitting low recoil scout rifle, which agains like the other two can outclass thorn. They were built for PvP.
Hopefully some people realize that there is more than one way to skin a cat,or that you can beat thorn without thorn
Edit:Necrochasm is apparently good too.I didn't say it.Some dude in the comments did
Edit #2:Cause the playas gonna play play play.H8rs gonna h8 h8 h8.Imma shake it off, shake it off.
Edit #3We are at 1000 replies.Let this thread die

However the TTK is a half-second slower and if the Thorn user's keeping a horizontal movement pattern it's much harder than using another Exotic HandC. Any other Legendary Pulse of a similar archetype will not compete due to the lack of health proc to make up for the Thorns DoT unless there's a damage increase a la Headseeker on Messenger/AllFATE (<-- By the way, the AllFATE's archetype is the only one to match the Red Death's .67 TTK seen with Aggressive Ballistics, Spare Change/other High Impact models have a .73 without a Headseeker proc and are much less stable at face-value.) MIDA, same as RD. Just with more shenanigans and much greater capabilities for skirmish-y plays against large teams and focus on Control points/general harassment. Vex, much easier to use and a reliable weapon for CQC aye, but at range this couldn't be more false as the Vex is just barely able to compete even up-close when compared to a half-decent Thorn user. Osiris Primaries? Are you kidding? The Jewel has one of the lowest PvP TTKs among Legendary HandCs with higher RoF models being king. Case-and-point being the Revelator. The Scholar is a great Scout Rifle by all means! However in order to get Reactive Reload going you have to get a kill first and then reload to compete with a Send It Thorn (and by a "good" Thorn user I mean anyone who uses Send It for the better Accuracy, Aim Assist, and Range together in a Scout Rifle package.) Without it .80 seconds using only CRITS simply doesn't compete to the Thorn's 1 Head & 2 Body kill guarantee. The Messenger is probably your strongest argument as it can have a TTK on-par to the Vex with more range. (Summoner left out for obvious reasons) Even then, you will NOT compete with a good Thorn user in an open combat scenario unless you out-position your foe as the Thorn keeps all the strengths of Range, RoF, and overall Impact due to the DoT. My credentials: I can do well with nearly any weapon in this game, so much so that while I openly admit in saying the Necro isn't an out-right bad weapon once you get past the learning curve and have become quite addicted to hearing that Cursebringer proc. That said, it does not compete to these weapons openly and I have to get out-right crafty in order to stay even when pitted against a good user. However, by no means will I ever claim to be the best. Just capable and reliable. EDIT: Changes reflected on the changes in the post, also strips away the ridiculing and other such immature content.
