Why did we give up?

Vault of Glass. Before any of the expansions it was the biggest mystery in the game. The second that the Dark Below came out everyone stopped searching for the fabled 6th and 7th chests. Why did we do this? Was it because we realized that there really wasn't such a thing? Or did we simply stop caring and decided to focus all of our energy into the expansion instead. Now that House of Wolves is out I only feel that it's gotten worse. We aren't discussing anything about the vanilla game anymore, and even the discussions about the new stuff is just conversations about the best way to beat them. I liked all of the theories and speculation on the Vault of Glass. At the same time, I'm worried that Bungie was really only worried about us playing the game enough before any of the expansions came out. None of us would have played the game nearly as much before the expansions had we known that there wasn't anything left in the Vault. I'm not saying that this is what they did, but its a bit of a coincidence. In fact, it's too big of one to ignore. We should start this conversation all over again now that both expansions are out and reevaluate what exactly is going on in VoG. This conversation should get going well before anything about the Taken King comes out too.
