"We’ve seen you backing out of matches on final approach in your ships because you saw formidable opponents on the other team. That tactic could earn you a restriction from future Trials of Osiris events. Please stick it out and fight – even if you know you’re about to be visited by tourists from the Lighthouse." - DeeJ, Weekly Update 6/4/15
I don't give a -blam!-. I don't owe that other team my time. I don't owe them my ass to stomp.
If your matchmaking system pushes me against a group that severely, obviously outclasses my group of guys that has yet to get to the Lighthouse, I don't - nor does anybody else - owe them our deaths.
Our penalty is on our card in the form of the loss we take. If you have a problem with people backing out of these matches, then don't count them as a Win for the other team.
Trials of Osiris has some serious design flaws. Solve them.
UPDATE: I should have edited this sooner, I apologize. I am aware of the Change Character exploit some folks may have been doing to avoid a loss. I was admittedly fuzzy on this issue when I initially posted. I believe a lot of my argument still stands, however, and, as others have noted in their replies, Trials of Osiris needs something done to its matchmaking. A simple step in matching Lighthouse Veterans to other Lighthouse Veterans, for instance, would do loads of good in evening the competition by placing the Proven against the Proven, and the Aspiring against the Aspiring.

So. You are a big coward. Come on, Skolas is level 35 and because of this you quit the game ? Play fair man and fight against all.
-
Make a lighthouse league. Once a player has made it to the lighthouse they face others who have done the same. Until then they face others who have not made it. Seems to simple though.

What's worse is I'll be on a killer streak and have all of the Trials supplies. My team will be confident and strong and then we get matched with the sweatiest MLG Mountain Dew drinking Dorito eating kids I've ever seen. We'll take the loss like men. They were obviously better and it doesn't go on our scorecard anyway. However, the next match will be just as bad. We lose, we're beaten down at this point. Then the next match is as if we got paired with people who hold the controller upside down. It's like Trials is designed to make my team fail. I hate stomping noobs all day, but I hate getting MLG720NOSCOPED even more. I want a fair trial. I want fair matchmaking. My team hasn't given up on Trials yet, but I feel like I already have.

I think it would be nice if they made elimination a regular crucible mode and with trials after people get a flawless card in one character they don't get any more rewards on that character not even glimmer rep or marks do decrease the incentive for them to keep playing and make it easier for people who don't play it as much have a better chance of making it to the lighthouse. This is just my opinion and I regularly make it to the light house every week on all my character

10 RepliesHow about you fix matchmaking bungie?! I've gone nine and zero every week so far but I agree it's bullshit to have such high skilled players against the lower ones.
-
While I don't condone or support backing out of matches, it seems obvious that this behavior is the predictable result of the misguided, perverse design of Trials. Great rewards are offered in order to tempt unsuspecting pick up groups composed of average players into the Trials, where they are inevitably slaughtered by organized teams who play together on a regular basis. The chances for average players to see much reward for the time they spend in Trials is dim. However, if there were separate 'pro' and 'amateur' Trials divisions/playlists for pre-made fire teams and teams composed solely of match made players with no fire teams allowed, Trials might stand a chance of being a rewarding, enjoyable, more competitive experience for both types of players. And negative behavior such as dropping out of matches due to frustration at getting matched up against obviously far superior competition would be less likely to occur. Until Trials is structured in some more sensible way to make the competition more balanced, I suggest just staying away from it. When Bungie sees the participation rate nosedive over time, maybe then they will finally admit that Trials is broken and make some changes.

6 RepliesI kind of agree. I'm a hardcore fan of this game but screw going into a match I know I'll hate. Especially when I'm helping friends out. If I got banned for that, well, then bye I guess. :/ I've devoted too much time to this game to be threatened over something like that. IF I were hurting someone, obviously that'd be different. But I'm not. Big deal, the other team who has clearly already won got a free win, and we got to escape a loss. I think I'll keep doing it. I'm on Bungie's side 99% of the time, but I will not be threatened after all the time and devotion I've given this game.

If your quitting because the other team looks good or has exotic weapons/gear then that's wrong and should be punished. If your quitting because the other team has 3 red bars or are known to be lagging/cheating then in my mind that's totally acceptable
-
6 RepliesThis is for leaving in orbit by switching characters before the match begins to avoid a loss, feel free to leave after the match starts, I guarantee no-one cares then
-
The goddamn truth right here man. Preach on brother.
-
This is a tournament. Matchmaking for this has nothing to do with skill. It is connection based. Just like any sport out there, you go in and do you best. you lose, you are knocked out of the best prizes. In a tourney, if a team forfeits or backs out, the team that forfeit always gets the loss and the other team always gets a win. If you don't like tournaments or can't understand what a tourney is, then play Crucible or IB. There you get rewards for being a loser.

Edited by crazeeavery: 6/5/2015 8:13:29 PMI think what Bungie said is them being sarcastic to the cheaters booting people for the win. If you read it like that it makes sense. cheaters will be banned

9 RepliesWe backed out when we got matched against triplewreck. Im not into getting my ass handed to me.
-
2 RepliesEdited by BITES ZA DUSTOH: 6/5/2015 7:14:40 PM
then don't count them as a Win for the other team
If this were to happen, people would do this more often to troll and it'd make matchmaking even harder to find, because of everyone backing out. I can get that people are upset being matched with higher skilled players, but it's honestly the best thing. You will learn more, playing against worthy opponents.
-
Most likely going to abuse this because bungies matchmaking is bullshit. Idfc if I get banned from trials if I can't WIN -blam!-ING TRIALS because you run into teams that GOLDEN GUN THROUGH BUILDINGS AND LAND A ONE SHOT ON THE FIRST BULLET OF THE MAG EVERY TIME ON HAWKMOON. Bungie fix your shit and nobody will abuse it
-
Just suck it up and don't quit. It creates a negative experience and a waste of time for the other team c
-
Cheaters never win.
-
9 RepliesNo one likes this quote lol. I have to say I have quit a couple times because people with 3300+ grimoire, they are scary.
-
idiot hes talking about a glitch ppl are doing, there backing out in a way ( not saying it on here ) that lets them not take a loss he is not talking about ppl taken a loss after quitting
-
I agree
-
How bout quit bitching and get good cause going to the lighthouse isn't hard at all
-
Once you get to the lighthouse on that character you shouldn't be allowed another card there problem solved. So many players will leave if you get banned for something that dumb well not banned but penalized it's too little too late if you were gonna do that it should have been in since day 1.
-
Don't see the problem If you leave before a match starts fine If you leave during fine It's up to you
-
If you don't want to get a guaranteed loss, and you don't want the other team to get a guaranteed win... Stick the game out and quit bitching on the forums.
