"We’ve seen you backing out of matches on final approach in your ships because you saw formidable opponents on the other team. That tactic could earn you a restriction from future Trials of Osiris events. Please stick it out and fight – even if you know you’re about to be visited by tourists from the Lighthouse." - DeeJ, Weekly Update 6/4/15
I don't give a -blam!-. I don't owe that other team my time. I don't owe them my ass to stomp.
If your matchmaking system pushes me against a group that severely, obviously outclasses my group of guys that has yet to get to the Lighthouse, I don't - nor does anybody else - owe them our deaths.
Our penalty is on our card in the form of the loss we take. If you have a problem with people backing out of these matches, then don't count them as a Win for the other team.
Trials of Osiris has some serious design flaws. Solve them.
UPDATE: I should have edited this sooner, I apologize. I am aware of the Change Character exploit some folks may have been doing to avoid a loss. I was admittedly fuzzy on this issue when I initially posted. I believe a lot of my argument still stands, however, and, as others have noted in their replies, Trials of Osiris needs something done to its matchmaking. A simple step in matching Lighthouse Veterans to other Lighthouse Veterans, for instance, would do loads of good in evening the competition by placing the Proven against the Proven, and the Aspiring against the Aspiring.

Just git gud
-
So what your saying is why should I play against people who can beat me.

5 RepliesGone to the lighthouse without being carried about 6 times now. All I can say is... There are some of us who are average and can make it. It's just tougher and frustrating. Also... These tryhards are a bunch of kids who rely on thorn, so once Handcannons get nerfed, we'll see a higher percentage of players making it to the light house. Most of these people aren't that great. They're just cripples who deluded themselves into thinking they're amazing because of one gun-- the thorn.

7 RepliesEdited by The Rossington: 6/6/2015 10:54:35 AMHang on. When ToO came out everyone who played it said it was for the best of the best, the elites of destiny. So why should you have to option to back out with no consequences? If it's truly for the best PVPers of destiny, shouldn't you just suck it up and play? Isn't the sole point of ToO proving yourself to be the best?
-
One word "Competition"
-
6 RepliesThe game mode is to promote competitive gaming and there so that the skilled players or teams get rewarded for their effort. Just because most people can't get there doesn't mean they need to make it so everyone can, get better, chose your team mates better and......equip the thorn lol
-
2 Repliesif you aren't either tied with or leading the other team by heavy round a majority of the time, then sorry ToO isn't for you
-
I don't think quitters were exactly their problem, but a certain brand of it. There was a way to quit without the loss on the card. This way should be pretty obvious for them to pick up. I don't think they were really referring to the run of the mill quitting type, but rather these lowlifes that were not taking their loss.
-
2 RepliesSo because you were too lazy too lose to my team, you back out and my better team gets punished for it as well? You, sir, have impeccable logic.
-
well, as i really want to vote GET REKT, i voted Agreed instead because when my team goes for 9-0, some teams already leave us before the match starts, thus making us gaining a win easily and time consuming becomes less
-
Not it does not, it was designed for good crucible players, if your below average then you should expect to lose when going into trials.
-
6 Replies''then don't count them as a Win for the other team.'' Are you seroius? Could you just take the perspective from the other side of the fence on that statement? Come on dude. Its frustrating to get shat on, but it happens online - deal with it. Its very unrewarding to have the other guys leaving

110 RepliesEdited by Formerly iab: 6/5/2015 1:01:58 PMThis is what's gonna happen: Most ppl have no chance of going 9 & 0 so playing legit and losing or backing out and risking a ban from ToO ultimately ends in the same place, with no high end gear. Its like making suicide a crime and punishable by death. The end result is still the same - no high end gear. It's not going to stop anyone doing it and as long as the other team get a win for the opponents cowardice I don't see an issue. Eventually as more and more ppl realise they will either get banned or just get beaten they will stop play ToO altogether and it will become a niche little exclusive clique simply for high end pvpers which will dwindle and die. Games in which the end user pays for content are meant to a be a challenge but also the end goal ultimately achievable with hard work. I see little point in pairing 3 average players who've have had to work their butt off to get 4 wins against 3 multiple flawless ppl. It's no challenge for the flawless guys and nigh on impossible for the others. Some form of competitive matchmaking is needed or trials will quickly die. In addition once you have got a character to the light house entrance to the trials should be revoked on that guardian
-
That didn't mean quitting a match in progress. ....from what I understand if a team leaves at the right time before the match starts they can get out without a loss...thus picking their opponents. ....my friends and I got two free wins this week last way.....kinda flattering actually
-
You don't get a loss when you switch characters while in flight and that I'd exploiting and you should get banned you scrublord
-
But the reason they're banning people is because backing out while flying down to the planet doesn't count as a loss. I don't think bungie is going to ban anyone for backing out after the match has started, as that does still count as a loss.
-
Don't worry the ban hammer is a striking. .. starting to read a small influx of " why am I banned" posts ... cos they use the back out of game glitch. .or other cheats ..
-
1 ReplyAnd it's people like you who don't DESERVE lighthouse.
-
8 RepliesIf you seem to consistently get paired against teams that are better than you... Maybe your team isn't ready for Trials?
-
Adapt
-
9 RepliesYou're cheating the system by backing out from guaranteed losses. You're probably a person that would also somehow justify lag switching
-
Did they talk about banning lag switchers? I didn't see anything. Ban those people first.
-
With that kind of attitude you'll probably never go flawless.
-
2 RepliesI had no idea that's what was going on. LMFAO I got free wins because scrubs didn't want to play my team this whole time. I'm glad you're gonna be getting banned for that. I don't need your free wins. I want to get to the lighthouse legit every time. I've played tons of other teams that where equally as good as my teams and we had to go to 9 rounds. Not every game is gonna be easy.
-
3 RepliesI'm not worried about it because i'll never quit a match. I'm never going to give the other team a free one and I'll never take a free loss. I might get beat down but phuck it I'm going to try....you never know....you might actually win. I agree with deej, quit being bitches
