"We’ve seen you backing out of matches on final approach in your ships because you saw formidable opponents on the other team. That tactic could earn you a restriction from future Trials of Osiris events. Please stick it out and fight – even if you know you’re about to be visited by tourists from the Lighthouse." - DeeJ, Weekly Update 6/4/15
I don't give a -blam!-. I don't owe that other team my time. I don't owe them my ass to stomp.
If your matchmaking system pushes me against a group that severely, obviously outclasses my group of guys that has yet to get to the Lighthouse, I don't - nor does anybody else - owe them our deaths.
Our penalty is on our card in the form of the loss we take. If you have a problem with people backing out of these matches, then don't count them as a Win for the other team.
Trials of Osiris has some serious design flaws. Solve them.
UPDATE: I should have edited this sooner, I apologize. I am aware of the Change Character exploit some folks may have been doing to avoid a loss. I was admittedly fuzzy on this issue when I initially posted. I believe a lot of my argument still stands, however, and, as others have noted in their replies, Trials of Osiris needs something done to its matchmaking. A simple step in matching Lighthouse Veterans to other Lighthouse Veterans, for instance, would do loads of good in evening the competition by placing the Proven against the Proven, and the Aspiring against the Aspiring.

Make perfect sense to me. Let's increase participation in an event not widely enjoyed by penalizing those who enjoy it the least. Smart... I don't back out and I suck but this is bs.
-
I was at 8-0 once and we entered a lobby with every one our team in red all of a sudden. We lost cause of lag obviously ad it really pissed me off :/
-
I've quit matches against obvious cheaters.. I won't waste my time.. Give me a loss, I don't give a crap.. was going to get that anyways but now I've saved myself 10min of rage lol.. I've never backed out before a match starts tho..
-
I think DeeJ is referring to this tactic where people change their character mid orbit against an enemy team and it doesn't count as a loss.
-
Maybe if they fixed the Thorn people wouldn't back out. I know I for one don't enjoy playing against 3 warlocks all with Self Res and all using Thorn. Most OP setup ever. If the team is even skilled in the least that's pretty much an automatic win. They roll together and all shoot once you're dead. There's no counter to that

2 RepliesMy suggestion to improve Trials of Osiris is to simply make it nine wins in a row with no score card. Quite a few times between a first card and the next I strung 9 wins or more together. Simply make it 9 in a row and reformat the score card unlimited matches to 9 in a row.

Edited by albinomachina: 6/5/2015 2:14:43 AMAll I can say is I've never visited the lighthouse, and probably never will, and you know what? I never quit one game in the ToO. Take your ass whipping like a man or don't play. Its the ToO. Deal with it.

So get banned. Problem solved

1 ReplyEdited by Lewie730: 6/5/2015 1:45:08 AMI find that update a little hilarious. If they don't want people to back out, then why are 3 flawless lvl 34 players being matched against 2 33's and a 34? Fix that crap please.
-
Edited by Murf_Spec: 6/5/2015 1:54:04 AMI agree cause a free win is like finding extra chips in the bottom of a maccas bag.

3 RepliesHave you tried not sucking? That usually helps.

I don't give a -blam!-. I don't owe that other team my time. I don't owe them my ass to stomp.
It is the trials, not just pub crucible. You don't get to pick and choose your battles here. Either enter the trials and fight whoever you face, or don't enter at all. There is absolutely zero tolerance for cowardice in the lighthouse. I am glad Bungie is taking a stand on this. For far too long honorless losers have been preventing online gaming from reaching the potential it has. Rage quitting, cherry picking, disconnecting mid match. All the little tricks tired losers pull to literally steal victory from players who are better.
-
5 RepliesYou actually have a good point about the mechanics and motivation behind being able to go 9-0. "Bungie you have people frustrated with the 9-0 requirements driving them to lessen the experience for others and exploit quitting a game before it starts. You should think of a solution besides threats." They did this with Iron Banner and the Loss Medallions. Too bad you ruined it with crying.....
-
I think you misunderstood, maybe. If you back out before you hit the ground it doesn't count as a loss on your card (people click the switch character option in the log out section of the settings menu) which is I'm sure what they are talking about. If you hit the ground and the match starts and you back out to orbit I think you're fine.

7 RepliesThis is a cry post

There should be classes divided by total wins / streaks

While I've found it easy to go flawless.. I was extremely irritated to read this post in general. What happened to ranked matchmaking and putting lesser skills against lesser skills? If you're going to say that, you might as well say 'git rekt, skrub'.........
-
Agree 100 percent !!
-
Very well said OP.

Does someone need a nap? You shouldn't be backing out of matches because the other team is better than you. You chose to do the trials, now man up and actually fight. People who back out because of losing are the worst type of gamers. I have no sympathy for your lack of skill. I've been getting my ass kicked in trials, but at least I deal with it instead of bitching about it on the forums. grow up.

I'm sorry...I ran out of tissues from crying so hard while laughing at how utterly stupid/pathetic/retarded/utterly obscene you are from your crying like a 3 year old girl.

1 ReplyHow do you think you get better...?

The only "I" in team is in the a-hole.

1 ReplySee, this is where the community is sorely wrong. ToO is for upper echelon PvP players, same as raids were for PvE players. Now, the community thinks that they should just expect to go flawless and reach the lighthouse every weekend cause its there. Frankly, I see no issue with Deejs statement. If your not able to win against moderate to good players, you shouldn't go to the lighthouse. And good competitive players keep playing because the games are fun. Now, I'm nit an amazing PvP person in destiny, but I can go flawless. Hate to be so harsh, but yeah. Same as when the PvP guys were upset that they had to do raids to get better gear and couldn't cause they were out of their comfort zone. Same applies here. You should only be able to get to the lighthouse, if your good enough to get there. Shouldn't be an easy riding lane to get there. PS: Lighthouse really isn't that big a deal. Exotic shader and a primary with elemental damage. Which for the guns, every player should already have elemental primaries by now. If not, your doing it wrong.

2 RepliesNow all i wanna do is watch SS troopers lol.
