With the first Trials of Osiris (ToO) happening on the weekend and reflecting on the ToO reveal stream by Bungie, ToO is Bungie's attempt to put Destiny on the map of competitive multiplayer first-person shooters. Personally, prior to ToO launch I only ever played Crucible when Iron Banner was on, however I have since taken a liking to the Crucible and it's PVP gameplay owing to the much needed patch on rewards in PVP and the new elimination game mode.
Despite this newfound appreciation, I have to say that Destiny is still lacking in the sense that players don't consider Destiny a competitive multiplayer first-person shooter. I would say one of the major reasons is that players, clans or pros don't have the option to practice with their friends, clan, etc. I remember in the Dark Below preview when Bungie Lead Designer Lars Bakken made reference to learning the new maps and their callouts for specific positions or nice vantage points, etc. Many other games have this available, why doesn't Destiny?
Just to clarify, since they are private matches no rewards should drop.
Would Destiny players like to be given the option to create their own private PVP matches with standard options such as map and game mode, etc?
UPDATE:
Link to another post showing Deej's response when asked about private matches. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/105036557/0/0
This was his response:
We know it's a thing you want. It's a feature we think about a lot.
Today, we're talking about the state of the game post-1.1.1.
We don't mean to ignore you. It's just not the topic of conversation for the day.
My response to his post is as follows:
Who decides the topic of conversation Deej? What factors influence the selection of the topic of discussion?
I feel like a lot of people are interested in not just talking about this feature but feel strongly that it should already be in game. Do you have a plan to address this request?
So far ZERO votes have been recorded against private matches.
