The Warp
The Immaterium (also referred to as the Empyrean, the Aether, the Sea of Souls, the Realm of Chaos, Warpspace or most commonly, the Warp) is an alternate dimension of purely psychic energy that echoes and underlies the familiar four dimensions of the material universe. It is the source of all psychic powers and known instances of so-called "sorcery" or "magic" as well as the home dimension of the Chaos Gods and their myriad daemonic servants. In fact, the terms "Chaos" and "the Warp" are often used interchangeably by those aware of their existence within the Imperium of Man. Superficially, the Immaterium is Mankind's solution to the problem of faster-than-light travel, an equivalent to the Star Wars universe's dimension of hyperspace. This function as a faster-than-light medium for space travel is achieved because the Immaterium is a domain of pure psychic energy, with spacecraft navigating between its currents, as in an ocean. The psychic energy that makes up the Immaterium is believed to be the direct result of the existence of sentience in the universe, in particular the intelligent species of the Milky Way Galaxy. Considered to be a dark reflection of the material universe, the Warp is an ocean of chaotic psychic energy, raw emotion given physical form. Stirred by emotion and action, the Immaterium is the true Realm of Chaos, home to the Dark Gods who comprise the Ruinous Powers and their legions of daemonic followers. The Immaterium is also rumoured by many cultures, human and xenos alike, to be the final resting place of the spirits of the dead, and therefore can be considered the "Underworld" of the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
The Eye of Terror
The region of the Eye constitutes its own reality, existing within both the material universe and the Warp. Although planets and star systems exist within the Eye, the laws of reality no longer apply. Time is a meaningless concept, and matter, thought, and energy are indistinct.
The worlds within the Eye are known as Daemon Worlds, and each constitutes its own bizarre sub-reality. At the very center of the Eye lies the "byssos"[5], a hole in the fabric of reality through which raw Chaos energy pours out.[6]
The Warp and real space are indistinct and intermixed within the Eye, and the whole region is a maelstrom of psychic energy, impossible to navigate through. Imperial ships avoid the area around the Eye for thousands of light-years. Ships traveling too close to the Eye can be thrown far off-course - they can also be caught in temporal whirlpools which carry them backwards or forwards in time, or which trap them in limbo forever.
The Warp storms that disturb the Eye are so intense that there is little point in even trying to steer a ship in a particular direction. The Chaos renegades simply launch their ships into the swirling energies of the Warp, trusting fortune to carry them to their enemies. This makes Chaos attacks so random, sudden and unpredictable, often occurring on worlds far from the Eye.[1]
Planets within the Eye of Terror:
Eidolon and planet Tomb Forge - both planets are chaos strongholds.
Eidolon contains the Citadel of Shadows, a notorious fortress full of demons and chaos legionnaires.
Planet Tomb Forge contains the Tomb Forge itself - a forge responsible for creating the largest and most fearsome army of chaos the galaxy has ever seen. It is under the control of the Summoner currently.
The Abyssal Colonies:
The Abyssal Colonies is a section of the galaxy that is recently discovered, and rich with resources. Colonies are constantly under war with the forces of chaos and xenos.
There are two primary planets here: Igneous and Regloth - both colonized by the imperium, but under different factions. There are thousands of secondary planets in this section of the galaxy.
46-19, the Gardens of sorrow
*First planet discovered on the Odyssey*
*the planet is breath taking.. 2 moons and a single star. The planet itself is solid green with what looks like blue veins. The veins are vast rivers that flow through dense jungles teeming with uncountable xenos predators*
*the planet's orbit is wobbling and unstable - the day and night cycle is off. Parts of the planet are shrouded in eternal darkness while the others have never known shadows.. Storms constantly rage in the twilight zones between day and night - dazzling, strobing lightning can be seen from orbit*
*several dead ships, human and eldar, float in orbit.. Still smoldering from recent combat, however, no signatures of life are detected anywhere*
***46-19 has been corrupted by plague***
Planet 106-66:
*a live feed of planet 106-66 appears as a realistic, opaque hologram that floats in the center of the chamber. All can clearly see that this planet absolutely huge*
"This is planet 106-66, a newly colonized and compliant addition to the Imperium of Mankind. take a moment to examine it" says Kor as he addresses the participants of the briefing
*The planet has a striking resemblance to Terra - there are roughly 20 continents, each is surrounded by oceans of water. There are great masses of ice at the northern and southern poles of the planet, each appears to have a gaping hole torn into the ice that no doubt leads to the center of the planet.. Strange. The atmosphere readings indicate that a rebreather won't be needed, there is more than enough oxygen. The trouble with this planet is clearly the size. The gravity must be hundreds of times more powerful than earths*
"I know what you're all thinking. You're worried about the gravity crushing the air out of your lungs.. Well most of you have that concern" says Kor as he looks in the direction of the massive Draconic warrior - Ømen.
"Fear not, the planet is hollow" continues Kor
*the hologram display changes from the image of the planet to several charts, pictures, and other important data*
"The gravity of this planet is actually about 2.5G's (2 and a half times the gravity of earth), you'll all be uncomfortable, but it won't kill you. We will distribute items that will supplement your strength. New suits of armor have already arrived in your personal chambers, so please try it on as soon as possible so that we can make adjustments before planet fall" continues Kor
Proti, Aspida Translation Literal: Shield, First Translation: The First, Last, and Only Defense. This Solar System is locked far away from the Terran civilizations. If you're looking for the Stratos Collective in this universe, you'll find them here. Time technologies have allowed for the extremely rapid conversion of this solar system into a massive power plant. A massive ring, The NEMFM Ring, encircles the system, aligned with the planets orbit. The planets, have been fully mechanized, their orbits under artificial control. If you try to go here with ill intent, you will be killed. The Stratos Collective will not tolerate hostility.

With the leave of the space marines and Venom Inc. The Great Unclean One claims dominance of 49-16. Instead of trying to tame the death world like the others, he instead melds with it. The death world sees and understands, the spirit of the planet accepting the change. This is not the destruction of the word it is its evolution. The gray jungles become great swamps. The stench of rot and disease are overpowering even through filters as the decay brews diseases never before seen by man. The great oceans and rivers, once clear, become murky and polluted. Moss and fungi grow like wild fire amoung the surface Disguising it like surface of the swamps. The creatures change. Skelatal behemoth roam the swamps fleshy birds take to the sky. Unknown insects roam free each one an untold horror. Smaller parasitic beasts prowl the swamps and waters. Pleased with the children he has bring to life the unclean one goes to the temple of his father and sleeps. His spirit joining with that of the death world. Keeping an ever vigilant eye on his children.

Edited by Trejo444: 6/4/2015 1:31:22 AMEidolon is a planet twisted and corrupted by the power of Chaos and the warp from being trapped in the prolonged warp rift. Entwining the impossibilities of the warp and the reality of the physical realm, Daemon Worlds are not bound by the laws of physics, but by the whim of daemonic rulers and the very will of tzneetch himself. Did you not notice the planet looked different? It was because tzneetch wished it to change and made it so. ~Daemon Prince explaining Eidolon, a planet in the eye of the warp controlled by the chaos god tzneetch. This is where the the Thousand Sons and The black legion's main forces reside.~
