No matchmaking in anything else. Arguments can be made for optional, but they are all weak. Too many potential issues with players. I want to know the people I'm with are capable of performing the task at hand. Poe? Potentially with unupgraded weapons, without elemental primaries.. Seems like anytime I'm matchmade into weeklies it's with some idiot with no elemental primary, and I end up with twice as many kills as them. Could be ignorant to strategy. Take into account the difficulty of endgame material? Nah man, I'm not wasting time with randoms. Trials? No way. You are nitpicking potential situations to benefit unskilled players. An experienced team of three would crush matchmade randoms anyway. Besides, a new team shouldn't be matchmade every game That would be dumb. So what are you left with? Creating a group before entering. Hmm sounds like lfg... Don't make Bungie do your work for you. They have enough work to do developing future and current content. It's not their job to find you people to play with.

  • First up your an fool, you start up with saying the arguments for Optional Matchmaking are week (and thats bull and you know it otherwhise you would have provided some kind of eveidence or factual information to back up your BS) Second of all you then go on to say
I want to know the people I'm with are capable of performing the task at hand.
Do you actually understand the meaning of Optional (it means that you can choose to be included or not) So there is the second part of your opening statment shot down in flames. Seriously people if you dont like the Idea of everyone being able to join you exclusive elite club of people who have full sets of gear because they use the apps and get on here to organise a raid party or endgame mission team at least be honest and say thats why you dont want optional matchmaking. Because seriosly all i have heard from the No Optional Matchmaking camp is a bunch of BOOO HOOO CRYBABY BS about how they want to know about the quality of the people there playing with. OPTIONAL is exactly that OPTIONAL if you dont want to be matchedup by the game you dont opt in for it and your fine so go rack your brain for a few hours and see what other BS reason you can come up with.

  • Not sure how long you have actually been playing games. I assume though that you have some experience in playing and have played other multi-player offerings. So then you do realize that the practice of offering matchmaking, whether public or private, online or LAN has been a industry wide practice for nearly a decade. This is just not players asking for something unique or unheard of but an OPTION that is offered by a majority of other multi-player developers as a standard feature. Nothing in Destiny or any other game has content so hard that only a hand selected team of "hardcore" gamers can beat it. You sir are just buying into the company line being shoved down the communities throat by Deej and Bungie. Through matchmaking a pool of knowledge is allowed to foster with players learning as they go,the ins and outs, tactics and strategies of how to succeed in a given scenario. You sir, along with Bungie's arbitrary philosophy seem to support squashing that portion of the player community with your shared and skewed outlook. Once again as the OP stated matchmaking would be optional and would not affect your personal gaming experience,as one of the option would be for a private party/match. That is unless you have more selfish motivations, such as you just like seeing yourself as elite and better than anyone else. If that's the case, I would suggest digging deeper than gaming to boost your self esteem.

  • There is a question. What "console" multiplayer game released since Halo 2, can you name that does not offer matchmaking.

  • Then make your fireteam before you go in lol. I work myself down to the core and come home to relax and play ToO and it took me 4 hours to finally get a group and by that time i should have already been in bed and asleep but now im irritated and want to just kill stuff and its throwing my judgement off and im just getting destroyed. I believe matching making would be perfect for these challenges.

  • The others that posted have already destroyed this pathetic excuse for a comment, no need for me to beat this pathetic and dead horse. Key in all others posts, optional, in other words doesn't affect you. In other words you can still form your own group in your own way...idiot.

  • Bungie shouldn't have to compensate for people having no friends, or being to lazy to find a group. Especially in trials where so much is dependent on teamwork and communication. Which is the point Bungie is trying to make with trials. Or any endgame content for that matter.

  • Yes they should. That's why they get paid and we pay them. This post I made was liked by many, I'll post it here, maybe just maybe you can open your eyes to the others trying to play everything this game offers by reading it.
The mission in HoW was the first I personally saw of the VoG. I tried some lfg sites and even had a team a couple times but they didn't want someone completely new and one or more members left. That is MY experience with external lfg sites. I work a lot, 60+ hour work weeks. The times I got full groups it took 30 minutes, and then they didn't even work out. So I'm left with the choice to forego something else in my life (sleep, time with family, etc.) In order to get a group and run the raid. Running the raid will take enough time I'm certain but waiting 30 minutes before even running the raid...just doesn't make sense. So I choose to not partake in end game activities in Destiny. Optional matchmaking would at least eliminate part of that time. I recognize I still may never complete the raid whether because of afkers or just bad players (possibly myself included in that one) but at least I'd get the opportunity to try
• How is matchmaking any different from finding two randoms on a LFG site, which you sound like you support doing? Bungie wouldn't have to do anything but enable it; they already have matchmaking coded. You, or anyone else who didn't want matchmaking, wouldn't have to use it. Personally, I'd hop into some random groups at the end of the week, after I've knocked everything else out, just to help people who might not often get to see the end of a raid. Is that being lazy? Is that not an opportunity to make friends? Would I not be able to communicate with them and teach them the mechanics if needed?

Hey Shaun you know what would work if you were actually trying to win the argument. Create a constructive argument based on facts, and don’t drop straight down to the lowest common denominator and just character assassinate people and abuse them. Yea I know I have been nasty to you in other posts but that’s cos you say stupid stuff your arguments have no substance and you come across as a Bungie DeeJ fan boy or at the very least an Elitist snob who thinks he is to of the poop pile cos he is soooo better than everyone else at the game. Go to your front door open it up walk outside into the big wide world and go earn some real world achievements maybe then if your life gains some meaning and substance you won’t have to prop up your EGO by being top of the poo heap in a game.

  • lol, this comment is pathetic. You do understand where elemental primaries come from, right? They come from activities that have no matchmaking. I have over 300 hours into this game and I don't have an elemental primary. When you encounter a player such as myself, with no elemental primary weapon, you can thank Bungie for being against matchmaking and being against PLAYER ADVANCEMENT.

  • I'm posting this again. One of the big arguments about MM is that you'll get stuck with crap players that AFK or drop out. Let's say you MM for a raid. 4 out of the 6 guys are good. Guess what happens, those 4 guys add each other as friends. Next time maybe those four get together and pick up two from MM. One of those guys is good, he gets on the friends list, next time that group only needs one from MM. MM is how you build friends you idiots(Bungie)!!Which by the way, is exactly what you want us to do. MM will lead to more pre-made groups. This isn't rocket science.

  • GOOD POST BUT BE SURE YOU SLIP THE WORD optional in before MATCHMAKING. they the sooky naysayers dont have to opt into matchmaking and can still be elitist snobs who dont like heling new players lear about the game. LOL @ BUNGIE yea your game is sooooooo social (but its elitist as well) so therefore we have a buch of oversocialised snobs looking down there noses at the rest of the community because we dont conform to there lofty standards.

  • Thanks! I guess allot of ppl never played any other FPS ever made. At least it's definitely what it seems like. Most of the ppl on my friends list are from Halo2, Wolfenstine, COD and Gears. All had some form of matchmaking that worked just fine. Which is how we all got together. Not on some freaking internet forum.
