Buy legendary armor from the vendors, (dead orbit, the crucible guy, etc) you will have to grind for the reputation and crucible/vanguard marks though. A faster alternative would be to have a friend carry you through the raid and get raid gear. And actually look into what gear supports you play style so you won't regret getting it later, like if you use shotguns and auto rifles then get armor that gives you more ammo for that. And to the intellect, discipline, and strength. BTW intellect is somewhat useless if you have teammates who drop orbs or if you can kill a lot without your super. When you have full legendary look into what exotic you want so if you get a bad one you don't upgrade it and waste materials. Once you know what exotic you want upgrade it and when you upgrade the defense it will add light. Raid gear is better than gear you get from vendors so after you get to level 30 or better, do the raid with friends. [spoiler]This is what I did anyways.[/spoiler]
